But yeah, just makes more sense, you were looking at spending like $95 for 2 and having me ship them to you when you could get 4 for $125...

I only plan on keeping 2 of mine. I think I have a buyer for the other 2, if not, I'll be posting them on Craigs or something if one of the local members doesn't want to take them off my hands.

You can fill up your truck, then siphon it out of the tank into the cans. Then refill the tank.

Or better yet, fill up a $5.00 plastic fuel can, then dump it into the jerry can...

you have to be kidding me!!! there are places that wont let you fill up your own tank? So I can own my own car, buy my own gas, but cant pump it?

thats //// retarded!!! Is this in place to give the pump jocky's more money? Kinda like how you pay extra at the full service pump..... or is this because common sense has become so rare, that the average person is a danger to him self and the public while pumping gas?

hahaha.. Yeah, not sure why its against state law for me to pump my own gas (unless on a motorcycle)... But it does help create jobs, and our prices are still lowere than what I seen down in Kalifornistan

Up to $250 fine in NJ if you try and pump your own gas.

But just think, i get to stay inside my nice warm truck when there a foot of snow on the gorund and its 10degrees outside while still getting gas...and dont need a poncho during hurricanes :coffee:

Do you have any figures of the amount of women drivers in NJ? or blondes?

And I say this because someone my family know (no, she's not blonde) tried to use the self-service bay in Panama, ended up spraying gas all over her Hyundai Tucson and herself. But most of Panama's stations have attendants, and I don't think there are self-service machines in Mexico. Creates a lot of confusion, last time I tried to fill up a car in Panama, completely forgot the routine, took me a while to realize the engine was on and the fuel access door closed (one of those open from the inside ones), the guy was like "Sir, could you open the fuel door" and I was like yeah (how the hell do i do that????!!!). Then I realized the engine was on.

Rumor has it that these cans are really water cans with a gas-proof enamel lining, but I'll find out for sure when I check everything out tomorrow or Sunday. I suspect I may just end up getting one made or going with a siphon.

Water Cans?... Make sure your gasket is correct! If I recall, the gasket for the water cans is only a cheap rubber... the gasoline gasket is different from the diesel and water cans, it's a smooth black shiny gasket. Anything else will be eaten by the Gasoline over time and form a leak.

Yep... otherwise I'm going with a gas-proof rtv gasket maker, so we'll see.

+1. I finally got around to picking up a super siphon before my last trip. Works wonderfully, if you have elevation, of course! No need to anguish over 'holding' heavy fuel cans while transferring fuel (at least when you have an oversized spout :pale: )

One recommendation, get the extension! If you put a fuel container on your roof you 'barely' have enough length with the standard 6ft size.

I am quite pleased with these cans, only a few very small spots of rust, the insides are pristine, and very confident these won't leak... very tight seal! All 4 cans had a vacuum when I opened them. Will be using gas-proof gasket maker to replace existing red gaskets, grinding down the rust and some extra welding slag, then painting the cans red. Nozzles will have the white paint (presumably to ease customs passage) wire brushed off and should be great when done. Anybody local (roadie or teebes, Doratus, Zero, or Nick) want 2 of these, ready to fill?

As for using the siphon... I just put the can on the rear bumper, it's got enough elevation change to make it work... just make sure the tube is far enough down the fill hole. But I've thought the extension would be handy.

Can's came in!!! :excited:

Looks like the gasket is not meant for gas, though. Its a red rubber gasket. Now I have to order gaskets! I should have ordered them at the same time. :viking:
