i have contemplated these, but other than large gaps I dont see much use. Are they to improve approach angle on other things or do you guys see many large gaps?

They look cool, but I am having trouble finding the function. There has been little that my approach angle thwarted that I should have even been attempting.

Help me justify these

I got mine for a couple reasons... A, my approach angle isn't as awesome as yours. and B, if you bury a tire in sand or some other deep soft stuff, jack the tire up, and set this over the hole... C, I like to be prepared for anything, so these are kinda an extra asset that don't take up too much space (since I'm carrying them outside the truck).

Ahh...Mud/sand/snow... Good point. I can see quite a bit of usefullness. have you used in snow or would a solid piece be better for that?

I have not used it for that purpose yet. I haven't gotten stuck in snow yet (cross fingers). I went to a 4WD beach once, but the line was waaay too long to get in (they only allowed a certain # on the beach at a time)... I wanted to practice burying a wheel and then getting out. No joy...

I had to use it a couple times in Rausch Creek (on stuff you'd probably go right over). I had a large rock in front of me, and I couldn't get traction to get over it... so I put the ramp up to it and basically walked up it.
