Well looks like my HD tie rods are going to fit so far....

What's the current 411 on your Fabtech's ? What modifications were done to make them fit?

I need to replace my tie rods before I get a front alignment, I'm looking at the Fabtech's or Rare Parts.

411 is we're having a baby and so I haven't gotten back to my project. I piled up all my vacation plus I get two weeks or paternity leave, so come the holidays I'm going to have a lot of free time to get back to it.

They'll fit and no modifications were needed on my truck (I dunno if that translates, I'm the only person with them right now.)

Mike, I checked out your build thread and found you've already updated... So, what kind of TRE's are you replacing with the Fabtechs? Did you have 2500hd in there already? Where they Moog?

Moots and I have gone a different route. If he doesn't hurry up and do the write up, I will have too. haha I would like to see Moog next to Fabtech for comparison. I have about $160 into a full set of Moog, and I have $40 into Rough Country sleeves to go over the thin part. The thin part is what I bent on my cheap china TRE at Tecore.

With my brother's help, was going to do new inner and outer tie rod ends, hubs, rear springs, and lots of other little stuff. Got one side TRE and hub done. Got over to the driver's side, did the hub, and installed the inner tie rod tool to get the inner off. I applied too much side torque, and the rack look like it bent, applied force to a screw cover on the back side of the rack and pinion housing, and it cracked the housing and the plug fell on the ground with a spring behind it. I was looking to change out the rack sometime after a long time of abuse, but now I think my core has no value because of the cracked casting. FML. New one on order from Rockauto. Rats.

Wow, that's quite the unexpected event bill. I'm guessing you were turning the ratchet by the handle only, and not putting an equal force on the head of the ratchet? Still, doesn't make sense that a human can even exert enough force on that to bend it, even with a decent lever arm.

Guessing that screw that came out was the clearance adjuster?

And yeah, I was replacing the LCAs and putting in the radflos. Didn't realize how much of a pain it was to get the LBJ out of the knuckle. I hadn't had to do that before.

Mine are a pain in the ass. I did the LBJ on my truck in June. I actually got the pickle fork stuck a couple times. My neighbor showed me the trick. After you have the pickle fork seated in there good, Take a 2-3 pound hammer. And whack the knuckle where the tapered shaft goes through. On mine, after a few good hard whacks it should semi-violently separate without much extra fuss. It worked for me 4 times. twice on the uppers and twice on the lowers.

My neighbor showed me the trick. After you have the pickle fork seated in there good, Take a 2-3 pound hammer. And whack the knuckle where the tapered shaft goes through. On mine, after a few good hard whacks it should semi-violently separate without much extra fuss. It worked for me 4 times. twice on the uppers and twice on the lowers.

I havn't used a pickle fork in years. Once you get good at that "trick" you never go back. No more torn boots. AJ did NOT look happy with me when he'd been beating on his for an hour when I pointed to the little spot on those LBJ on our trucks and told him to beat Right There. 2 hits and it fell apart.

A hammer will do justice on anything.. I've done it enough times mine just pops right off.
