I was really just turning a phrase. Ther's not much else to the story - except to remember never to lock your emergency jump starter in a drawer in the rear. No battery - no hatch access.

Had to remove the roof-rack and the light bar to take care of some spot rust. Also stripped my piss poor tint job. going to have that professionally redone, and this time the whole truck at 20%.

I re assembled the front end this afternoon. It took me about 2 hours from start to finish. Now just need to add diff fluid and top off the radiator. O2 sensor arrives tomorrow and I will pick up a AC sensor that I managed to break.

I started to tear down the rear end to get ready for the new rear end, and I found something very interesting. It appears that I did more damage than just the teeth on the G80.

I loved the look with the rack on mine too, not so crazy about the 3mpg it robbed.

Besides the look do you really need every day, just mount when going wheeling.

Mounting is not fun its either on or off, and I have configured my truck so I no longer need the rack to carry stuff, which is a pain in the ass to load and unload every day on the trail. I'll never store a heavy ass tire up top again, no fun when you need to use it.

Man, I really liked your current roof setup too. We're even exploring similar options to your design to try to get MPGs back.

I still have the ramp/rack. It is a great blend and functional. Easy to strap to and easier to unload. I jusy not sure on the lights up there still. If they were in front of the basket like some, it would not be so bad, but they seem to just stick up there. I guess I need to pull them and see how it looks. I do need some kind of rack, cause its a paint to take on and off, plus I always seem to find some use for it. Only had my Trasharoo off foir a week and miss it. Guess I just like storage options.

Just got my CB installed...
I made a little bracket with some angle aluminum I had laying around. It was stable with one piece, but I ended up doubling it up to make it a little stronger. Once I have a garage again, and get all my tools out of storage, perhaps a steel plate will be in the works. But the aluminum is alright so far, drove 60 miles with it up today.
I put the radio (a cobra 19 ultra III, walmart special) on the inside of the b pillar. It's actually out of the way, but close enough to grab (think cross-draw). Bought a firestik and mounted it on the front. I was going to mount it off the back like a lot of you guys have on here, but damned envoys don't have any sheet metal above the lights. So I threw on a spring and put it up front. Looks decent - it certainly puts my AM/FM radio antenna to shame! The white vinyl tape on the spring is insulating the spring from the body, I didn't really think about that until I had it all together.
This being my first CB, I, of course, bought the original firestik, instead of the firestik II, so I'm going to have to figure out how to tune by trimming... It'll give me a weekend activity, at least. Any tips? I'm worried I'll cut it too short and be SOL.


I do have a question though. Is it worth buying a SWR meter or should I just try to borrow someone's?
