Offroad Trailblazers and Envoys

New from SD.

New members: please introduce yourself here.

by Ralogsdon13 » Wed Aug 07, 2013 9:17 pm

Guess i should have posted here for my first time.
Anyway, New to the Site, In the military, currently stationed in Rapid City, SD.
Plan on moving back to my home state Kentucky in 2 years, if there are any Kentuckians by chance...

But i have owned my 2003 Trailblazer LS for 3 1/2 years now. Complete stock. due to a lack of knowlage on any mods for these vehicles.

Now that i have seen the possibilities for my TB, i have many plans for it.
But i still lack most of the knowlege, especially about lifts, body and suspension. not to mention regular maintenance.

there are more than plety of trails here. but turns out, in SD mud is not a favored word. so most the trail are in the Black Hills national forest around Mt. Rushmore. no mud, but still very beautiful out there.

That's ok, we're not fans of mud. We like rocks and desert. I have friends in Rapid City, SD. Need to get back out to the hills, been awhile since I've been out there. Good climbing and hiking.

i have a question that im sure has been answered before, but what is a G80, and how well does it play a role in off roading?

It's the rear locker. As one guy's signature says: "those who don't lock, speed"

so yes it helps, though most guys prefer the aftermarket ones :safari:
The problem with the Trailblazer is, people think you know what you're doing.

Welcome to the Site.

Do not, under any circumstances leave Rapid City with out attending DTC. You will regret it for the rest of your life.

I attended the last 2 years, it was great. The Black Hills 4 Wheelers are a great bunch of guys.

There wont be much you can run stock, but you may be able to get a ride along with someone with an open seat. Or if you are lifted in time for next years run, by all means, go for it.

The event runs Labor Day weekend so you can plan accordingly.

Anyone else interested should check out their site as well. http://www.bh4wheelers.com/

I would love to attend it with my TB, but do to my lack of knowlage and how confused i am right now on what i should buy together, i doubt i would be ready in time.
I am at a complete standstill on which shocks and coils i should buy with wich lifts i should buy. i dont want to buy anything that wont fit together.

I have been off road plenty of times but never anywhere that i needed a lift, which i want to be able to do.
I have done ride-a-longs in rock crawlers before. a bit much for me, thought i was gonna die. lol
But there are tons and tons of trails i have yet to go on in South Dakota because of my lack of clearence.
