djthumper wrote:What trail rank? Hmmm Mall Crawler build? :poke:

Mall crawler build? I have more trip threads than 75% of the users on this site. I wheel fairly regularly with members of this site. So if you want to do build threads by trip threads, I certainty qualify. I have wheeled my truck side by side with lifted members on countless occasions. The list includes saltwaterdrinker, mooseknuckle, v7guy, moots1288, grey matter, James Downing, MDB, dirty anton, NC-islandrunner, Mr and Mrs. Key. As far as other members I have met, the list includes Mario, Kyle, and Regulator, and irishboy. I have been on more TECOREs than most. I even led a trip with 3 lifted members over thanksgiving. And there are threads on here to prove it all. So by the criteria on this site, I far exceed mall crawler. My truck has all my tools, recovery equipment, survival stuff, extra parts and extra fluids on it all the time. My truck has been dirty and offroad more than the mall-crawlers combined. My build has pictures of everything including the tools I carry and my recovery equipment. Which seems to be a big pet peeve around here. The only thing that disqualifies me for Trail Rated/Guide is the fact I am not lifted.

If you want to do build threads by number of posts, I have more posts than the people who called for this change combined.

If you want to base it off build thread views, my build thread has more views than the people who called for this change combined.

This is the first off-road forum I have ever been active on. This is the first board I hosted trip threads and a build thread on. This is the first forum in general I have been this active in the community.

I know, I know it's not a TB. But the rules are rules and It says nowhere "must be a GMT360" :lurk:

I'll be honest Dave, I think Larry was just trying to be funny.

Not sure why you don't have a rank - I don't change them unless it is requested. Also, once a rank has been assigned, it cannot be taken away. Once it's assigned, there will always have to be SOMETHING in that category of your profile. Just the way the system works. So, my bet is that you never requested one - or I somehow overlooked it when you did request it, and it was never applied. Put in a new request, and we'll be good to go.

yeah, I think they were messing with you Dave.
JD, I looked in the Rank Request thread where he submitted the request with 3 trip reports. I'm pretty sure he was ranked at one time.

Dave, you just need to get a TB and make it official :-)

Personally I think this works. I know where to look to find things quicker. And I still browse all the builds, even the ones in the mall section. There are a number of appearance mods I wouldn't mind doing that some other members have done, like the tow mods and a pointless cowl hood for giggles. But I know where to look to figure out which spare parts and things I should be carrying for our next trip out west.

Yea, I swear I made the request. And I'm certain I had a rank on my profile too. Glad you found it.

Whew, just spent some time re-organizing and updating my build thread. Still have a few sections to finish editing and then some new content to add this weekend.

Update it again. When you talk about Phase 0 and Phase 1 in the blue font you have "trail and error" instead of "trial and error"

Unless that was supposed to be a play on words haha

Yes, I was kidding... You did have rank there but I never noticed it gone until you said something. All that you posted was rather moot since you just came back from TECORE anyhow.

My point that I'm not a mall crawler is moot because I just got back from an offroad trip. Right...

But anyway, I get what you're saying but the list is split 50/50 with those I have wheeled with for the first time this TECORE and with those I have wheeled with and met long before this past TECORE.

Yea, a bit of an overreaction here. Oh and thanks for the G80 and transmission that were destroyed that I wasn't prepared for before putting them on my truck. :finger: :slap: :raspberry:

David, having just wheeled with you I know that you have a good idea what your doing and deserve to be ranked. However, your kind of stuck in that weird place because you are primarily stock and have no real build to report. It essentially comes down to the powers that be to decide where you fit in.
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do.
