What's up guys? My Name is Logan Fowler and as the subject states I'm from Alabama. I've had my TB (I6 4wd) about a year now. I've just recently gotten into exploring my 4wd to new limits. The most I've done with it is take it on some trails up on the mountain and that was to TRY and help get my friends King Ranch out of a mud hole. On street tires and what your trail guide would probably rank a 2...I have to say I was very pleased with my TB. Even though others poked fun when we broke a logging chain and it shattered my friends windshield then I rolled away with a dented door and pretty sure a stump pulled the latch off my oil pan cover. My truck wasn't sunk and taking water!!! :). I was looking to do some minor mods and came upon this site. After seeing the plethora of knowledge and help you guys offer I had to join. I'm just looking for some input on you guys and some guiding words to point me where I want to be. I've looked at tbangert's build and I LOVE it. I want my truck to look stock with add-ons. By that I mean factory wheels and minor body mods but a roof rack for spare tire and tools and a front guard for wench and light mounting. I've a father of 3 so this build will take time but I hope in the end I will have something to maybe pass on to my son for when he gets ready to hit the trails.

welcome, sounds like you need to look up Mike Barton and get an oil pan skid.
If your xfercase fluid hasn't been changed every 50k miles, you might want to do that soon.

Welcome.

Some advice....DO NOT USE CHAINS. If you want to be around to give your son the truck, spend a few pennies and buy proper straps. Chains and strap with hooks are more dangerous than most anything on a trail ride. You realize that someone could have easily been killed by that chain to the windshield.

As you saw, these truck do well in stock form, but some money spent on skidplates from MDB Fab will be money well spent and keep the risk of expensive repairs to a minimum. Protect the radiator and oil pan and grab some good tires, you will do well even without a lift.

Search around, ask some questions and get out and enjoy the truck!
I hate to advocate weird chemicals, alcohol, violence or insanity to anyone...but
they've always worked for me.

There are a few trucks on here that only have a mild lift and still look fairly stock.
