Need new tires!

Need new shoes? This is the place to discuss.

Hello everyone, just became a member here and i'm wanting to know what everybody thinks about tires. I've been looking at the Continental Cross Contact LX20, BFG Rugged Terrain T/A, and the Firestone Destination A/T. I don't off road much but when I do I want to have plenty of tire. Are these off road tires good on road too? How do they compare to the continentals? Is there any comfort, road noise, or MPG i would be giving up if i went with the BFGs or the Firestones rather than the Continentals? Thanks.

I would like something less rugged. I mostly drive on the road but i want to be able to go off road when I want to.

Well you said you wanted plenty of tire! Some BFG A/Ts or I've heard good things about Yokohama Geolanders too, If you want something milder.

I just saw something on toyo at II, they have a 65000 mile warranty and I know for a fact that its predecessor held up well as far as tread life, not too sure how well it does offroad though.

Pretty happy with my treadwrights and there's a lengthy thread about them here. Might want to consider them.

Look at the AT2 they are quite on road and awsome offroad. Lots of reviews on this tire. Lots of sipes, handle good on road, they do good in the rain, but mud is a different story with these.

It's a Pirate joke. Thornbirds are a shitty tire at just about everything, so everybody sarcastically talks about them like they're the best tire ever.

I figured it was something like this. I guess I need to stop being a snob and only hanging out in the Yota section.

I still vote Ground Hawgs.

General Grabber AT2

Haven't had them in snow nor wet grass sorry. I'd imagine they would do good with all the sipes in them.

Hey at least Ground Hawgs have their place. They're a good tire for only mud. Best part is by now they are all dry rotted for extra traction since they stopped making them

Thornturds on the other hand...

X2. On my second set, great water dispersion, when others slow down for rain or standing water, I maintain speed and no issue.

My offroading consists of unpaved roads, beach and unplowed fields when hunting.
