Here's why that's listed under his (and a lot of other) usernames on Trailvoy: http://gmtnation.com/f5/welcome-gmtnati ... story-226/

Basically, Trailvoy was sold a while back to a third party company, called Vertical Scope. Instead of being interested in helping the auto community, VS became more focused on revenue, and the community suffered. Some of the Trailvoy volunteers ended up creating a new site, GMTNation, and a lot of members fled from TV to GMTN. Once Vertical Scope saw what was happening, the quickly launched a GMTN crusade, erasing every mention of it from the forums. Private messages were searched, and any PM mentioning GMTN was deleted. Eventually anyone mentioning GMTN was banned. Vertical Scope quickly realized having all of the community's top members showing up as banned would look bad, thus the "No Longer With Us" tags were used.
The archives are still useful for pulling up info posted before the great split, but if you're looking for an active community, stick with this site and GMTNation.

And welcome aboard

Welcome!

Great summary, Cody, except for one tiny detail. 100% of the Trailvoy staff was behind the jailbreak. Every last one of us wanted out with a passion. Only took 3-4 weeks from the first spark until we had the site ready to go live. Now GMTNation is about to pass 2000 members (in 9 months), and it was GMTN that had a tent at Carlisle, not the Vertical Scope tools. It's a ghost town. A dusty libraty filled with a million posts, but nobody welcomes the noobs much anymore. :shoot:

The spark of an idea that ended up with ORTB was born the first WEEK that Vertical Scope owned Trailvoy, in case we offroaders needed a lifeboat. I had a quicker sense of mistrust of them than the rest of the mods and admins, and Teebes and James Downing had the technical chops to get the site running. So we ran a jailbreak first, but it wasn't like the "school just got let out" behavior that happened last December when GMTN went live. That was some crazy times. :excited:
