I've been going through the photos and I can honestly say. I want to paint my stock rims black.
So instead of poking people individualy, I'll ask everyone at the same time.
Rattle Can or have them powder coated? Also, how much will pc cost and how long before I'll
be able to use my wheels again?

It depends on budget. I spray painted mine because I am a cheap ass and so far the only problem I have had is from rock rash. In California we have tons of bush where I wheel, and even with that, I dont have any scratches. I did 4 or 5 coats and a clear or 2 and threw them back on and wheeled the next weekend. Been almost 2 years and it hasnt faded. Hardest part is masking off each wheel, but other than that a fairly quick process and very easy to touch up if anything does happen to them.

I noticed that you said"masked". I'm assuming you left the tires on the rims while painting them. I'm assuming because I was thinking the same thing. I wouldn't call it cheap, " saving money for future use". That sounds better to me. I'm leaning towards spraying them also, because I already see myself buying new rims(black) within the year or as soon as I wear down my current tires.
Hmmmmmmm, rims. Steel or Aluminum? Still undecided.

And those are the exact same stock rims I have. You wouldn't by chance have any close up shots of your rims, would you? It would help in my decision making process. (WoW, I sound like a dam politician), help me.

Just make sure to use spraypaint that is anti-corrosion, sand down the clearcoat on the wheels well, and clean the wheels with a degreaser before painting. A few light coats and you'll be good. Mine have lasted nearly 4 years now.

Agreed with JD... it is all in the prep. When I painted the Rainier wheels in 09, I spent most of the time prepping them. I cleaned the hell out of them, then taped off the areas I didn't want to paint (kept them 2 tone). If you're doing the whole wheel, its easier. Just tape off the tire and cover the truck around the wheel so you don't cast off. I used DupliColor wheel paint, light coats is key, don't overdo any coat or you'll get clumping.

Plasti Dip is the way to go. I wanted black so I went with Plasti-Dip. Just prep the wheels by washing with dish soap and paint away. Lasted perfect all last Summer. You can now buy "Metalizer" for plasti dip that will give it a metallic look as well if you want gloss.

I got tired of the ghetto stocker black look and peeled it off. My rims were showing age so I used the duplicolor aluminum and clearcoat after that. Its been 6 months and they still look brand new.

Ya, I shoved tape under the lip around the rim, then stuck newspaper to it so essentially it covered the tire. Next time I paint a set of rims im gonna try a different method I have heard of, involves rubbing petroleum jelly around and covering the tire. I will try and get a pic later.

You could just use note cards and stick them in between the rim and tire, seem much easier to me.

Plasti dip x 573! Its not too expensive. Easily reversible if you decide you don't like the black anymore, and easy clean up if you overspray.

I am having a hard time finding Plasti-dip anywhere so far.
I've checked Home Depot, Harbor Freight, and some small Hardware shops, yielded nothing yet.

At the same time, I'm considering cutting off my muffeler, only if I can replace it with a straight pipe, while removing the heat shield from the spare tire carrier.

Any ideas?
