Racing springs to replace factory springs

Our front spring's upper perch wouldn't accept a 2.5" ID spring, would it? Going entirely from recollection here - isn't our upper perch something like 5" ID?

From what you've said so far, I'm very skeptical that you'll be able to get it to assemble properly. Nevertheless, you've peaked my interest.

I'm fairly certain the 5 is the outside diameter of the stock springs, like I said the springs get smaller right at the ends so it's my understanding that our perches(from everything I've read) are either 2.4 or 2.6 which is why I went with the 2.5 just to be safe but we'll see for sure when I get em on hopefully this afternoon
Edit:after looking at the upper perch again it seems you may be right James but I still may be able to make it work with some good ol redneck ingenuity lol I'll have to get the strut unassembled and have a closer look to make sure it will be structurally sound.

Our front shocks are 2" OD. 2.5" ID should work. When I cut my own shims, they were 4.5" OD.

I looked at doing something similar in the past, but lupis found springs a lot cheaper than what I was looking at.

He will need to move his top isolators down to the bottom spring perch (on the shock) to account for the fact that his new springs are most likely cut flat.

True, that's another issue to contend with, the bottom perch - if his springs are flat ground.

Yes they are flat and that's exactly what I was thinking with the insulator so hopefully that will work perfectly. They will be going on tomorrow since I got a buddy who's going to help me out thanks for the input y'all.

Tapatalk is really easy to use for picture uploads. Quick too. Only a buck or two if I remember correctly, and iPhones take pretty decent pics too.

Friend bailed on me so ended up taking the wife and kids offroading hopefully he's free either tomorrow or Monday so I can give y'all the updates. On a side note had a lot of fun on hidden valley trail and dakan road. Check traildamage.com for pics of the nice colorado trails

As you can see one side is flat but the other is not, any thoughts on which way I should install? Also before anybody says anything I didn't care about the color the chrome was just the cheapest lol

I am thinking out loud here without having the parts in front of me......
I know the stock mount has a spring isolator with an offset to allow for the spring not being flat. I can't remember if the lower mount on the shock is the same. If the mount on the shock is the same I might try pulling off the isolator so you are mounting flat to flat.
You might want to think of some kind of cushion to help reduce the noise.

Slide the top isolator down the shock body to meet the perch. Putting the two together will give you a flat surface on both sides for the spring.

I think Fish is onto something, they should mate up, you might still need some kind of cushion to keep noise down between the spring and the mount at the top.

All valid points thanks for all the input y'all what I'm thinking of doing is flip flop the isolator and insulator. Since the bottom perch wont need the insulator when I move the isolator down there so I'll move the insulator to the top to try and keep the noise minimal. Thoughts?
