The separator plate I picked up from the dealer had an extra hole compared to the stock one, so i didn't put it in, and used the one in there, luckily my gaskets didn't tear when i pulled it off, and the check ball holes were in pretty decent shape. I just hope that its not the plate that's 48 bucks, cause all the others were 13 dollars with gaskets, lol.

Paul,

Transgo does make a replacement plate for the 07: http://www.transmissionpartsusa.com/4L6 ... 35098d.htm Might want to look into it. No gaskets, but they are only like $4 if I recall.

3 hours, wow. Took me basically 7 if I recall. Did you make the changes to the 2-4 servo? I had heard to stay away from it. Now your testimony tells me that I may have done the right thing. Do you also notice a rather harsh 3-4 shift?

Has anyone tried using Dextron 6 in their tranny? Couple of guys at the shop use it and I can get it for free. Just curious if we can use it in our transmissions.

I pulled the cover to get the code off of it, but didn't make any changes, I was going to put in the Corvette 2-4 servo, but didn't end up putting it in, since I've heard it increases the shifts also. The 1-2 valve spring I used was the lightest one in the pack, and was almost the same as the stock one, I'm curious to see if the pinless accumulators I put in have something to do with it.

The rest of the shifts are quite nice, no harshness to any of them, it's noticeable that it shifted, but nothing that worries me, although the 3-4 when it locks up the convertor is a little firm, but the normal 3-4 is fine.

I did see that plate, but was apprehensive about ordering it, since the nalley gm site shows 2 for the 2007, one for units prior to 12/01/06, and one for units after that date, I'll call the dealer I picked mine up from and ask about the 2 different ones, the part number I have shows its for a 2004-2006, so pretty sure it's incorrect.

The biggest pain was dropping the pan, and keeping the bolt sizes organized, a piece of cardboard helped out a ton with it though. I started the install at 1:30, and with the 3-4 hours of shooting, finished at 7:30ish, then did a plug change, since I'm at 86k on the oems ones. Not sure if it was the plugs, or a combo of the 2, but my mpg is now at 21 according to the dic, up from 16 hwy, probably from the instant lockup of the tcc, although that was only a 40 mile drive home from the garage I work on it at.

Chris, I used dex 6 in mine, but that's what it came with, and I've heard from the os that people use it all the time in older ones, without issue.

I wish I had somewhere I could pick up some for free, at 7.99 a quart for the valovline, it gets expensive if you have to drop the pan a few times, lol.

I was actually considering doing a full change to it on the 02 when i drop the cooler in, which doesn't appear its going to happen today, but at least its cooled off here, was 83 yesterday, and a high of 40 with snow/rain today, on the way to work, only hit 195 trans temp, so it can wait till Sat for that.

Dex 6 can replace Dex 3, but not the other way around. Dex 6 is supposed to be better, and run a little cooler.

Ok brought home my Dex6, stopped and picked up my trans cooler and trans filter/gasket. They showed a shallow and a deep pan trans filter kit in the computer. Looking at mine it has a step down and seems fairly deep so I grabbed the deep pan kit....hope it was the right 1. Been searching trying to find the difference before I open it. Mine looks like this 1...

http://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/2004/c ... n_pan.html

So because of the step down, Im guessing its the deep pan, where if you scroll down they show a regular pan and its flat.

Next question, Went to grab a rear diff gasket since I got my fill plug broke loose with a breaker bar today, in the computer they only showed a 8.6" gasket. Same as here....

http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframe ... 67-3627241

Since I have a 8" rear, being im not an EXT, do they use the same gasket? Just went through the 19 pages here and couldnt find anything saying either way.

Just reuse your diff gasket.

Appears you do have a deep pan based on your link.

Something happened within the engine bay area of the exhaust tonight. Turned the tb on to warm up for ten minutes, got in, when I hit the gas it just roared like open pipes...It wasn't cold enough that I was able to look for leaks near the Cat, but it sounds like it might be near the manifold...I'll look closer in the morning and hopefully I can figure out what it is. Basically all I can tell is that it sounds like I am driving with open headers and the noise is coming from in front of the front doors on the passenger side. Anyone ever have problems like this before?

The exhaust manifolds are known to crack on these things. If it's not an obvious exhaust leak at a joint I'd look at the manifold.

Just got home from work, had a friend rev the engine while i looked under the hood. The heat shield over the manifold pushes out every time you rev and the connections at the head look good. So I'm guessing there is a crack in the manifold behind the heat shield. Just waiting for it to cool off before I go poking in there. I'll take pics and let you all know what happens.

Well does anyone know any tricks to removing the manifold from the flange pipe end? I'm having trouble getting any leverage to loosen the bolts because there is such little room down there. Besides that, here is the manifold and all it's blown out glory...

What I did has use multiple extensions so that my ratchet could be below everything so I could do full turns.
