2008 FRONT STABILIZER LINKS

BDS, ReadyLift, Smaxx... You name it, we know about it here.

by CHI-TOWN » Mon Feb 27, 2012 2:03 pm

I can't find part# for 2008 Trailblazer FRONT sway bar links. How come all the manufacturers end the front sway bar link part# at 2007. Is there something different about a 2008 Trailblazer as opposed to early years.
I know my truck has a front sway bar.
I searched SMAXX, Moog, and Mevotech with no luck

Maybe its there and I just am stupid ?

GM changed their design somewhere around there to non-ball-joint links.

Have you checked Rock Auto?

Mine looks like a through bolt. Does that mean they don't wear like a ball joint ? Do they just break ?
It look likes it is nylon or some sort of plastic over a through bolt. Is there anyway to upgrade to a non-plastic version ?

I found it on Rock Auto. They have a standard and professional grade kit. Now, I know the 2008 is different than the previous models. Thanks

Just remove it anyways, you'll be happier.

Keep the front and lose the back. Less sway onroad and more flex offroad

Now - I haven't tried it Kyle, but from my understanding of the suspension, it seems like that would make the front end really stiff against roll, and the rear really loose. Just SEEMS like it would be a really uneven feel.

I feel like by keeping the rear and removing the front the truck's suspension feels pretty even, front to back.

I thought that also until I installed mikes disconnects up front. I went ahead and just removed the rear sway bar all together and have not noticed any difference. Ive even push it a bit much side to side while driving and no sway problems front or back.

I have tried every combo in swaybar on and off and the best is the rear gone since it hangs so low and the front connected since they are easy to disco and get maximum Offroad flexibility.

The front bar does way more for onroad stability than the rear.

Having rear only is more uneven feeling than front only.

This is correct... Most trucks and some cars don't have a rear anti-roll bar, at all... Having driven Kyle's on mountain twisties with just the front connected, it doesn't drive much different from stock. Front disconnected freaks me out, because the front rolls heavily and the back is trying to keep things in order, but feels like it's not doing a very good job of doing so... Had the front of the wife's disconnected for quite a while and eventually sort of got used to it, but MAN did it feel GOOD when I reconnected the front!

Interesting. Maybe I shouldn't have cut my front bar in half then!

Yeah to me, it just feels right having the rear gone and front connected.

Yep... That's where most of the weight is, and the suspension is independant, vs. the rear being a solid axle that doesn't try as hard to get out of shape.

ETA: Not only that, but the front is where the steering happens.

Agreed. Front only connected. With rear gone and front hooked up, like the others said, can't even tell its missing.

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ENS-9-8118G/

I just installed these on my TB tonight after not being able to find stock replacements at the local parts store. I used these on my full size chevy in the past and they seem to hold up well and you can't beat the price.

I realize this is an old thread but I wanted to put this info here as I have searched all over the web for the stock ones to no avail. Also for reference, the stock plastic sleeve is 3" long so these should be the best fit.

But our mounting points are horizontal.....

Also, I disco'd my front when I put the new tire set up on and I think because its so wide now, I dont notice the sway in the front like I did when I was stock. Thinking of removing the rear and doing limiting straps also.

The mounts are not horizontal on the '08s. They changed the sway bar. I will take pics tonight.

Just as an update, I have completely removed my rear anti-roll bar, and the front is on QDiscos. With the front connected and the rear gone, it handles nearly exactly like all hooked up, until you get to running corners faster than you ever should, even stock. When I'm in "drive it like a car with a good suspension package" mode (making sure the QDs didn't break on my wife), I can feel the rear starting to want to roll a little, but the tires are already starting to scream, and it's pretty borderline, anyway...
