Bad shake in 4hi under acceleration

The drive shaft must have a play , that is normal .. if is not half a turn
Do you have play in the cv joints ? Put the car on 2HI and try the play .

P.S. : Tomorrow i will change all the ball joints and i'll let you know , but i'm convinced the vibrations are not from there !

I changed the ball joints today and i also opened the front disconnect to check it's condition ..
Inside the grease was looking fine and the parts as well . But i discovered that one ball bearing needs replacement and that is the cause of my vibrations on 4HI .
You have to put the car on 2HI , like i told you and check the play in the cv joint , if you are in 4HI the cv joint will be connected with inner axle and you will not feel any play !

Hopefully that takes care of the problem for you. i didnt check play in the cvs . I had just replaced them less than a month ago. im almost to the point of saying screw it and doing a solid axle swap. found a couple of trucks today on craigs list that i will go check out and maybe just buy the whole truck so i will have everything on hand that i should need instead off hunting down parts.

That's the ultimate mods. ... i wish i was living in US and have the opportunity to do this swap.. unfortunately i'm living in Greece were is difficult to find a GM 14 bolt and a Dana 60 so i will continue "hunting down parts" and i'll watch with envy your build thread ...

But you do have LandCruisers with good size axles to be donors!

You are right , we have some Land Cruisers but more Toyota Hilux , and they don't have such strong axles .. The Greek rich off-roaders are mounting Dana 80 and Gm 14 bolt on their trucks , just like you do there , but here those axles are 4 times more expensive than in US . The fashion here is to have a Toyota truggy but the price to make one is outrageous ..

Is the front drive shaft supposed to spin when in 2 hi or is it disengaged at the transfer case?

In 2HI it should be disengaged from the transfer case . Why is yours spinning ?

Yea. i had a buddy of mine watch as i pulled forwards and backwards and he sad it is spinning when i move.Thinking that might be part of the problem and possibly why i only get 9 mpg . Where should i look first ? transfer case or diff and disconect. i did lift front off the ground ans spin the tires by hand so im thinking tc is not disengaging.

The transfer case might not disengage ...

Wait a second ...
Put the car in 2HI lift the front left wheel off the ground and spin it .. if it spins it means the transfer case is working fine

There is residual friction that can turn the drive shaft. Watching it while in 2WD tells you nothing.

If you're really worried, put it in 2WD, get under your vehicle, and spin it by hand. If you cannot turn it by hand, then something may be binding. However I seriously doubt that it is why you are getting 9 mpg. More likely, it's cold, and you're driving short distances?

I will try that in the morning. was thinking maybe there was a connection between my shake and the bad mpg. I go south every thursday its 37 miles each way 34 of it non stop highway and the round trip burns half a tank of gas, changes both o2s and the exhaust cam actuator last week and not really any change.

Not sure what your setup is (put a link to your build thread, if you have one, in your signature), but it could have to do with a transmission not locking up.

THought of that too maybe i should get a speedo module to correct the speed. i have marks three inch lift with 86 springs on bilsteins in the front and z71 springs and 2 inch spacer in the rear with bilstein avalanch shocks. Three inch body lift and 18 inch rockstars wrapped in 35-11.5-18s
