So, it's been about 17 years since I've owned a vehicle with 4wd and about 17 since I've had one with air. Needless to say I'm pretty excited about my new to me Trailblazer. It has come to me more out of necessity than anything but, that doesn't mean I'm not going to have fun with it. I needed a second car because I'm always leaving mine at clients car lots when I pick up vehicles for them.

Here's my shop. Detailing is my main stay but, I also do wheels and tires.

I also need a tow rig for the race car. I've actually pulled the car with this rig before and it does nicely. I'm using an all steel 18' foot car hauler right now but would eventually like to get an enclosed trailer but, think I'm need a little more pulling power before I do that.

The race car

After our recent trip elk hunting in WY and the acquisition of my new bird dogs I new my 95 200sx was no longer a practical daily driver and never was good for long trips with kids.

The plan is first a dvd player for the long hauls. Then the boat like ride needs to go. I've driven a fair amout of Trailblazers for work and this one has a lot more body roll and sway than most. Wheels and tires will be done after suspension. I'll probably go with a Mickey Thompson wheel since one of my tire distributors carries them. As for tires I'm not sure yet. I'm willing to sacrifice what some people would consider a comfortable ride for a higher load rating and stiffer sidewall. Lastly the engine will be addressed. I'm thinking duramax but, we'll see what's available when the time comes.

anyway, here she is

Sounds like a duramax suburban would more fit the bill! But welcome and have fun modding!

Yeah, what I really wanted was a 7.3 Excursion but since it was a gift I'll work with what I have. My Dad bought the TB new and has only used it for vacations. Putting a little under 12k on it a year it's in really good shape inside and out. I've also been doing the service work since it was new so I know it's been taken care of. It was too good to pass up.

I know how this can work out great....
Sell the race car and use the funds to build an awesome wheeler/dd.....
Then you won't need a tow vehicle!

We have the length for a Duramax... but I'm not sure the engine bay has the width. You'll also need to SAS or convert to 2wd.

I was thinking an adapter to run the SS oil pan on the Duramax block or chop up the two pans to make one would be the way to go. If I have to do a SAS may be a deal breaker and 2wd is out of the question.

We humped up the mountain the first day and my cousin got a 300lb calf. I climbed that mountain 6 more times in the 6 days we were there and that was the only elk we saw. It was just too hot.
