Offroad Trailblazers and Envoys

ABS gear in front bearing hub...

Trailblazer and Envoy related, but not off-road related...

by chevycrew » Mon Jan 30, 2012 6:01 am

Im working on a new fix for an old issue of mine.

Can anyone find out how many teeth are on the ABS ring inside the bearing hub?

Thanks a ton!

If there are any bad bearing hubs floating around, all it takes is popping out the sensor, and counting the teeth as its spun.

sorry man, I just tossed two about a week ago so my brother in law could take them to the scrap yard.
I didn't think with your conversion though you were still running our oddball hubs.

Not running or hubs, but prob just needs the number of teeth so he can make duplicate it on his axle to get the ABS working. Atleast thats my guess.

And I have a couple hubs, but they are at my mom's house, which is too far out of the way for me to travel during the week, but I am going to be there Fri night. So if your still looking by then I'll get the info for ya.

I remember pulling the sensor out of one of mine and there are a lot of the little marks. You might need a paint marker or sharpie or something to mark a line to try to keep up with the count.

Thanks guys, what I'm doing is looking to modify the rear vss signal and change it to the required count to make the abs system happy. I don't want it working, just to get the warning lights out.

I hear ya. Ever since I switched to the 8.6" from an 05' without the sensors on the axle, I've had the warning lights. And they are getting on my nerves.

Just a heads up.

I remember that the ring for the crank position sensors of the LS1s were more complicated than just the number of teeth. They read off the leading edge of the tooth and were sensitive to the space between the teeth as well. They guys that ended up making aftermarket relucter wheels had to use an osciliscope and experimenting to get it to work out.

The chances of this being as simple as I want is unlikely, but its worth a shot.

Im also going to take this discussion back to my warning light thread... Thanks!
