Most of us stumbled on these boards after we bought our TB's so if you were like me you didn't really know what you were getting.
If you haven't bought it yet, there are some things to consider.
1, what gearing. If you want 33's, you'll like the 3.73 gears better than the 3.42 gears. There is a code in the glove box to tell you what gearing the TB has. There could also be some models that have 4.10 gears. I can't tell you why certain TB's have certain gears.
Also, some come with a G80 locker which is helpful for offroading, you will see the G80 in the glove box. I think most would say the G80 is a fair locker and will work for most folks.
The v8 and EXT models have a beefier 8.6 rear end which has some aftermarket lockers available and is a better long term option than the 8.0 rear end that comes on the short I6 versions. The 8.0 that comes in the short I6 models do not have aftermarket lockers available.
If you are going to be doing extreme offroading finding a TB with the 8.6 rear might be worth it, or buy one with the 8.0 and swap in an 8.6 later.
It all depends on your plan.
