body lift vs suspension lift

BDS, ReadyLift, Smaxx... You name it, we know about it here.

It's a real stretch for these trucks with 3.42s to go much beyond a 32" tire and tow anything of real weight. :study:

I will not go beyond a 32" tire for any reason least of all looks. If a crux can't be done then no need to get there. :viking: In my truck anyway. :D

Hardtrailz, I don't think I need both lifts. Have you ever been to SE NC? It is flat, just think about southern Illinois with more trees :-)

Been there. But I also am willing to drive to wheel. You are not far from mountains....

Hehe. You might be a customer for a product I'd still like to build: a TCCM mod to allow a "2LO" mode. :safari: Of course, if you're on an Interstate, you'll be running 35 MPH max like all the Pinzgauers.

Roadie, on my recent beach trip I saw a 4wd motorhome, I was thinking now that is camping in style. I also saw a guy with one of those that slide in the back of your pickup. I'd like to get to the point where I have a couple of totes etc and I throw them in the TB and we are ready to go so it isn't so much effort to plan, we can just go.

What navigator just said reminded me of some people who had a Jeep junkyard up in WA and they put on a front axle and made one of their motorhomes 4wd. It was pretty sweet seeing it as they did it all themselves.

Ill let you know how that works out... mine is a mechanical version though with the doubler...

But realistically, 35" tires, 3.42 gears, 2LO, in overdrive, turns 3700 rpms at 60mph, or 4900 rpms at 80...

bump that to 40" tires, and the rpms change to 3500 and 4300...

I'm located about 1 hour from the Uwharrie National Forrest and 3 hours from Tellico in the Mountains near Murpy NC and would be happy to get together with any of you and go four wheeling.

I thought Tellico was closed a couple years back? Did it ever get re-opened?
