I told barton that I will try and get some of my wheeling buddies to help if I can't. My 1st baby is due the 15th and that takes precedent. I would love to have my newborn help though. Be good training if it works out...
I hate to advocate weird chemicals, alcohol, violence or insanity to anyone...but
they've always worked for me.

could always come down and say hi lol, steaks and beer are always nice to have when working on trucks

Would love to, but I'm not financially or logistically prepared to make a trip that long currently.

lol I agree with you it is good training, and like I have said before. I dont want to put anyone out, or cause any problems for anyone. If you can help then you can if not the its kool I understand. The way the army does things is hurry and wait then tell them at the last min what they need to know so where ever they are going to go is going to cost more because the army had to wait, and the soldiers are the one to pay. But its all good ya all no worries at all.

Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier Mike (BartonMD), but thanks for the text to point me in the correct direction.

I have to be in Fort Wayne Saturday afternoon, but can plan on leaving strait from there and make it down Sat night so that I can be there and ready to get to work on Sunday. Mike (MikePeters), if you feel like you have to spend $600 on the body lift install I will be glad to stick my hand out, but of course that is not necessary. It isn't an inconvenience or burden, and I always look forward to helping out fellow members, especially a fellow Soldier!

I will be able to stay down for a day or two, if we work out a wheeling opportunity on Monday.

Mike, keep us posted on your big trip.
BTW, I was just thinking you could have flown fishsticks down to help with the install cheaper than hiring someone to install your lift :-)

Good luck and safe travels on your trip.

Navigator, Mike lifted the body himself, before he left, then him and Kyle did the rear bumper at my house.

Mike showed up at my place around 3:30PM on Saturday. I was finishing up making his sliders, and we hung out in my shop, mostly... We painted the bumper and rad skid, as well...

Sunday, Kyle came over, and he and Mike did the rear bumper part of the body lift on Mike's TB, while I installed the sliders. We all sort of worked on all the extra trimming on the fenders, do they wouldn't rub. We also got the bumper and rad skid, and oil pan skid installed.

Monday, we just did the spare tire carrier... It's welded to the top of the hitch, so there's no loss of towing and tongue weight capacity like there is with even the best hitch extension tire carrier. The bumper had to have a bit of an oversized hole put in it for the install, but that was covered up by the grip plate, and it turned out great... The bottom of the tire is 2" above the top of the receiver, and isn't above the headrests of the back seats. The window glass clears it in the up position, and the hatch clears it at the bottom stop. The stop is internal, so there's no ugly pile of metal off the back for it to rest on. (not to mention zero loss of departure angle) ALso, it doesn't rattle around like the receiver-mounted ones do without using a bolt and smashing the receiver tube...

Pics.

Needs more triangulation?

As an aside, Mike had mentioned his transmission was doing funny things, like it was overheating, on his way to my place... He has a scangauge, so I printed out the x-gauge sheet, and programmed his trans temp this morning... He called and said his transmission was running 255F just running on flat highway...

Turns out it doesn't have enough power with the 35's, roof rack, and 3.42 gears, to stay in lockup in OD on even flat highway... He put it in 3rd, and it dropped to around 200F... He's stopping off at a friend's place today, probably, to install a trans cooler and flush the trans...

Wow, nice looking EXT. I gotta say... might be the best EXT I've seen. What a transformation!

Ouch about the trans temps. Tell him to turn off the A/C.

that TB is SICK!
I expect he is on the road, any idea what rims those are and where they came from?

Is he going to need more trimming in the rear?

Above. 3.42... Yeah, he'll have to go at least 4.10, if not 4.56...
