new custom fabbed srut suspension ideas...

BDS, ReadyLift, Smaxx... You name it, we know about it here.

The official modify you're strout suspension thread.... I want to modify the strut itself or custom fab one... i think if we made a machined piece of metal that fit into the trailblazeer strout mount( bottom with screw that holds the shock to thee lower a arm) that has a normal tacoma shock mount. Or how bout move the coil spring holder higher on the shock body and re-weld to make the coils sit about 2-3 inches higher... :work:

I have some rough country shocks on the way... I also want to buy some shock mounts($8l and mount 2 shocks in the front to help the strut suspension out... I've seen a landrover that had two strut suspensions on each side using an attachment that came off the main strut mount...

Smells like an appearance mod, unless you desert race - there's really no need for dual shocks.

Either way, good luck creating something that will hold up to the forces. You'll notice all of the lift blocks are done at the top side of the strut. This is because it simplifies the applied forces into compression-only forces (essentially).

If you add some contraption on the lower-mount to fit a Tacoma strut, you'll be dealing with compression and bending loads. One of our members broke a custom adapted tacoma coilover because these bending loads were not taken into account by the company that adapted it.

The truth is, we can easily max out our front suspension with simple lift blocks and stiffer springs. So instead of focusing on the shocks and springs, take a look at the other challenges (such as the location of the differential) first. Focus your efforts on finding a double-CV, high angle front halfshaft for us, that'd be a bigger benefit for everyone and it would allow you to lift beyond the standard limits.

Extra inch of travel on the cheap: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=1136&p=19605&hilit=strut+washer#p19605

IMO a dual setup is far more work than it's worth with the stock IFS.

Also note that the black strut in that pic is supports the hub assembly (MacPherson style). We have an extra A arm that does that for us.... hence, one front shock.

Why? If you're going to be doing the 90mph desert running for hours on end that will overheat the Bilstein HD or the aftermarket coilovers, you'll have much bigger problems than overheated dampers... bearings, control arms, tie rods, steering rack, ball joints, etc.

*snif snif*... I smell poser mod...

We've seen people do this to the Tacoma, which looks like what it is in the pic... And for the life of me I cannot figure out why they would want to. I think its from all the ricers out there buying trucks. They think because they have a MacPherson style suspension in their Civic, that it would be great on a truck :wallbash: :wallbash: What a waist of a good vehical.... Nobody runs this type of stuff that actually use their vehical... Your better off waisting your money on a SAS, and I say waist, because I doubt it would be used to its potential..

Yeah, taking a stronger design and making it weaker.... I just don't understand these things, I've sold ALLOT of replacement parts for people trying this Trailmaster lift... Makes us good money, but sure ashame to see someone go down that road just to spend twice the amount to go back.

I can't post more yet because the vendor is looking for insurance coverage, but there's somebody out there working on length-adjustable uppers to solve the camber problem, and fixed-up lowers to also help camber and the flexible lower pin-mount.

If you see a rumor elsewhere don't bother to jump in and post it here because I'm already on the case and I have a relationship with this vendor anyway.

On another front, I have a design now for a stronger Icon lower mount and just getting bids from machinists to make a couple.
