Air Ride to Spring Conversion

BDS, ReadyLift, Smaxx... You name it, we know about it here.

I have the stock AirRide lines, compressor and sensors still in place. I wouldn't use the old lines to fill the bags, I'd use the Aux line coming from my stock compressor, until I could replace that as well. I left all the stock components in there so I could run the new lines in the same place.

As far as the difference in ride quality, I guess that depends on how you use it. The AirRide was kinda bouncy at times. Like a rear tire dropping down off something would bounce. The more weight you hauled around, the bouncier it was. It was nice and smooth on the road though, and handled the smaller bumps better. The Z71s are a little more harsh on the road, but seem to get a little smoother with weight in the back. Great for loaded up camping/hunting trips. You get used to it either way...

Thanks for the info, Saxis. Hmmm. Good on the road, though... I'm attracted to the idea of having wildly adjustable height by using the stock air bags and a custom compressor/tank/valve system. But bouncy is bad. Luckily I'll be waiting for bonuses in January to do all this, time enough to think it over. Thanks again for the information, you guys are an irreplacable resource!

Time to move things along!

Just ordered a set of 89 springs (Thanks Daniel!), AirLift 1000 bags and AirLift Quickshot compressor/tank. I'll be removing the 1/2" shim in the front in place of the springs. Ride might be a little rough until I can get some armor/bumper up front (hopefully by next spring). I'll be taking the rear apart to RTV the BDS spacers, add insulators and run the lines/wiring for the bags and get the tank/compressor mounted. All this while putting together my On Board Water... Gonna be busy!
