315/70/16 BFG Mud Terrains. Get them or not?

Need new shoes? This is the place to discuss.

Local sale has a set of four available. They have 75% tread, and measure out to be a 34" tire. Should fit perfectly on my new wheels, but I'm not sure if they are overkill with my lift setup. For anyone that doesn't know already, I have the MarkMC suspension lift and a 2" body lift. I fit 33" tire with suspension only, so I see no logical reason why they wouldn't fit. I know I'll have to do some fender cutting. I know I can always resell them, but I'm getting tired of running around all of the time just to buy and sell shit.

If you clear 33's... that actually measure 33"... the tire will only be .5" closer to the fenders. So they SHOULD fit... you might have to trim a little more, like you said, but whatever. If they are a good deal, go for it.

What wheels are they going on? That will be the big issue with that size. I plan to order that size next, but will have to cut and flip or hammer a section of firewall so I dont rub. The fenders will clear easily, but the metal part of the firewall hits at full flex.

But I rubbed with a 265 and suspension only at full flex and my 33s--305 65 and 285 75 rubbed with 2 in zone and suspension when really flexxed offroad. I consider any rubbing period as the tires not fitting and it seems many people here will allow some rubbing.

I would say go for it and cut to fit. That is the size considered as 35's for 17's.

I agree with you, Kyle. If it rubs, it doesn't fit.

By that logic, 265/70/17's don't fit on a suspension lifted 360. I've rubbed the shit out of the tops of my well liners, front and rear.

K, you heard them, everybody go back to stock sized tires now. :poke: :finger:

Wheel well liners are sacrificial trim items, and count only as bling.

The way I see it, cutting just comes with our territory. Pretty sure anyone that has run 285/75 or larger has had to at least trim some fender liners. If I get them, they will be installed on the 16x8 ProComps(figured out the brand and model :D ). They are going to stick out about as far as yours Kyle, so I have no doubt the cutoff wheel will get some exercise. They may even hit the top of the fender at full compression, in which case I'd have to decide whether I add another inch to the body lift or cut the fenders even more AND retrofit a set of the Bushwacker GC flares(which I may need to keep from getting harassed by the cops anyway).

I was shooting for new 305/70s by spring, but I guess 315s wouldn't be so bad . Trying to stay away from used, but for the condition of the tires @$200 or less it is very hard to say no.

:viking: I had to cut my fenders sitting in the parking lot of the tire shop that I had to talk into mounting my 285/70/17's. They refused to mount them saying that they wouldn't even be able to get my truck out of their bay. End result, I talked them into putting the truck in the parking lot on jack stands and pulling the tires off there. Sure enough I had to cut about two inch's of the fender just to be able to get the truck home. The tool of choice, tin snips! :excited:

Wait... the liners or the actual sheet metal?

My liners got cut up when I ran 265/70/17's. The fenders themselves had to be cut for the 285's. Keep in mind the Envoy's front wheel wells are a bit more cramped then the Trailblazers. I think we have to cut more then the TB folks to fit the same tire.

I agree removing the liners, but if you hit metal, cut it off or get smaller tires. They dont fit.

Before I had the body lift, a cut off (but not enough) fender edge started doing its own siping on some of my tread. Sliced through 3/4 of the tread depth.

Nobody wants a self-induced blowout that can't be patched with a plug. Do you all carry turkey carcass sewing kits for tire repair?

Good point. The tires obviously did not fit and could have caused a disaster.

Well put sir. i have a trailblazer, with the same size tires, and have not 1 single rubbing issue, and I did NOT have to trim anything. I was very happy. i dont think ill ever go bigger than 33's, and i am hoping with the right choice, and a bit more lift with marks up coming kit Ill be able to run a set of 33's with no rubbing or cutting. Guess i got lucky with my wheel choice and having a trailblazer.
