Guys question for everyone with a welded on bumper,

I noticed since I've had the winch installed the bumper creeks when I go over bumper dramatic enough to I guess have the bumper add extra movement, so I got out and man handled it by pulling up and down on it in return making the sound on the down push but the car had to move 2-3" up and down to make this creek, could this be my sway bar or could this be the bumper improperly welded on and some part of a weld scraping against metal?

Mods feel free to move the thread to correct location wasn't sure where to place it

You may have more noise from the common components due to the extra weight on the balljoints, endlinks, etc.... yes. Spray some wd40 or other solvent on squeky areas, just like normal

Regarding the actual bumper, you should have ZERO movement beteen it and the frame. It should be 1000% solid to the frame!

It is solid to the frame but I'm just worried bout the welds lol there not done by a pro done by my brother lol

The welds were nice and he decided to go on top of them for some reason, you could see the penetration on both sides of the metal so it's def welded together

So I got under it and it may be comming from the sway bar not sure have to wait till tomorrow for full exam

My front suspension creaks a bit when it loads up... I'm pretty sure it's the upper strut mount bushings. It could be the struts themselves. Shrug.

I'd grind those welds and maybe lay a nice steady bead over the top of em... I'm no pro though.

Those are known as "booger welds"

Grind them flat and weld them for real... Or better yet, get it all prepped (ground and paint removed), then take it to a welding shop and pay the $15 minimum charge for them to lay a couple fat beads down on there...

yeah, um... I'd seriously reconsider doing much even driving around with those welds holding the bumper on... From the looks of your flux core welds, I'd much rather have it fully welded on with you running your flux core welder, than your brother running his 220 MIG...

I had his problem. I have the KMT bumper and about 3 months after I got it i started hearing a squeeking sound. turns outi pulled the bumper off and gound down he frame rails so that te fit wasn't so tight. I put some bearing gease on the rame and put itback on. no more squeek

Not to come off too rude, but there is nothing nice about that. If that was done with a 220 mig, it looks like he had the gun about a inch or two away from the weld with epileptic seizures. . Like Mike said, GET IT FIXED.. and don't winch with it,... kinda scary !!

But, I don't think that would be your squeaking problem, probably one of the bushing or ball joints like mentioned.. Another thing we see often, if you tend to clean your truck all the time (not saying you, just for others reference) and you clean the shocks and struts, you need to oil the shaft. If you don't, and you wash the shock shaft all the time, it dries out the seal and causes the strut to squeak.. I've warranted allot of shocks due to that..!

Yea we were having issues with the spool and the gas, lol, but it's getting fixed and it hold my truck goin up a step hill I tested lastnight

Please just get some proper welds on there before someone gets hurt with that thing. It may seem solid up untill it falls off the truck, Im not trying to be mean but those welds suck and I wouldn't trust the weight of the bumper on them let alone using the bumper.

Hahaha yea it won't be fixed till next Thursday but just in time for my big off road trip
