Completed--Windrock OHV Tennessee

WOW. Great place but not for open diffs or under 33's. I was a bit underbuilt, but Mike's skid protection and some throttle bump on big rocks and the multitude of break-overs, as well as being able to follow others, got me thru with lots of scraped under-carriage and a bent control arm. I did actually scratch rear bumper and pull rubber off rear brushguard on one of the drop offs. I did not get many pics, but will pull some from other forum as they post. We hit moderate and difficult trails and dealt with rain. It was crazy having half your tire hanging off a 1000 plus foot drop off as your crawl over rocks. Not the friendliest pic environment, but a trip to be remembered.

I will post other pics as I recieve them. I know mine are pretty crappy, but a few are decent. The rain on the first day was crazy for hills and rocks. I should have some better ones when the guy posts the stuff that 3 of hit the second day.

Great trip Kyle! Some of it looks very similar to Rausch.

Also... good job showing the Jeeps what a well built TV can do!

The Poison Spyder'ed Rubicon is my buddy and he hit Rausch the weekend before. He said that Rausch was good, but expensive. It wasnt real cheap for here, but it was worth it. We only touched the Southside of the mountain. Did 16 and another first day, then 26, 27, 35 and 22 the second. It is Coal Creek OHV and there is a decent map at windrockatv.com.

I meant to ask which he liked better, but I do want to try Rausch anyway. I just need some more armor for rocks. Mine did EXCEPTIONAL and saved my ass several times when watching the rear fall off stuff and cramming the front into a rock that I missed. The skid plates are must have items.

O, Mike..I did hit the front bumper a couple times, but it was in mud. The shackles were great for pulling a tree down and out of way.

Question... what is that pipe/tube that is sticking out so far forward on your rack? Is that the Hi-Lift handle? If so, why such a long handle? Just curious...

Jack handle. More leverage with extra length. Could have cut it off since I had to get a replacement handle, but figured it wouldnt hurt anything.

Plus it held the CAMO as everyone called the tree that stuck in there. Or as my buddy said, the truck has its own bush.

Good job on making it through, even in the rain. I'm guessing you saw some other trails that were, ahem, worse. I know that there is some BIG stuff at Oliver Springs.

Was I wrong about my assessment of the park?

You were pretty well right on. There is some much much bigger stuff, but our group was limited to 35's and some things are better left undone. A few of them went and walked up to Rattlesnake and said take the toughest tril you think of, toss some car sized boulders on it and make it go up a mountain...that what it looks like. I wouldnt touch extreme yet, but the difficult ones were just that. I know that there were two obstacles i could not have done without a winch, but we skipped those trails and did some others. I would definitely go back. The wife told my buddy she wants me to get a sas now to go where the jeeps can't. Sounds like I need to step up the planning on that and strike while the iron is hot.

I've just really had a liking for the Unlimited's so I just like to look over there and see what they can do with them.

I did a good portion of the suspension on a couple there and armored another. They are sweet, but they dont do much I cant and they have at least 3 times the money involved with 100 less HP. The motors are sad. I went and looked at Unlimited last night and may be getting the wife one since they are as much soccer mom cars as ours are. Did you know they can be bought with 4x2 now?

You know you've arrived when you look at that "stupid stuff" and salivate... More so when you make the turn onto the trail and give 'er.

I've heard a lot about the trails there, and have wheeled all around the area, so I am aware of just how big it can get. And yes, I'm one of the ones hitting that sort of trail.

Yea I at one point really wanted one (before I got the TB in 08') but they were new at the time and I didn't have the $$ to get a new one.

And more recently I had been contemplating trading the TB in b/c at work I'm on a car plan where the car needs to be no older than 3 years old in order for them to reemberse me good $$ but the motor is def a weak link and the Rubi's are still big $$ and after checking out that site I don't want that wimpy motor. And its sad about the 2X4 and that there is even a lowering kit made for them as well.

I f they ever get the Penestar motor in 12' I think maybe in 2013 I may get one and also keep my TB since it'll be paid off in only a year and a half from now, but we will see.

Those are what makes me really want to figure out some tube doors, I love drivin with no doors...
