Hello i'm James, new member from Abbotsford, BC. I've had my 2002 TB LTZ since 2008, joined Trailvoy in 2010 when i decided i wanted to upgrade it to run trails, and needed to learn what was involved. Then around mid-2012, started to wonder where all the smart people went, kept seeing the "no longer with us" on everybody's status. When i kept seeing thread's that amounted to "i added an air freshener" and 15 people congratulating them with another 30 asking how they did it, it was time to move on........ ( yes, that was a total and utter exaggeration but it was weird having threads that didn't have anything new, or wasn't improving on an existing fix). By chance, i found JD's trailblazer thread on Expedition Portal, and found ORTB shortly thereafter. Been lurking ever since.
:lurk:

So now i think i've learned enough that it won't be a total disaster........partial, maybe, but not total.
Have pulled the trigger and am ordering the parts i need to get started. I'm working it in with repairs at the same time, because let's face it, at 320000kms, it's starting to show some wear now (the front bearings are shot and the rear end rides like my old 75 caddy).
Parts are slowly trickling in, because i order here and there and pick them up across the border (and the less ordered at a time, the less interested customs are in giving me the free colon exam and charge me duty for it. insult to injury, i'm sure).

Will start a build thread at some point, but won't have anything ground breaking. Once the repairs and suspension are up to speed, will look into other projects for it. Was interested in that cooling system upgrade that Jon A had done, but still wrapping my brain around it.

Other than that, will try to avoid stupid questions, but one or 2 might slip out (sorry, Roadie, but it happens), the only plus about lurking unregistered was that the possibility of dumb questions was non-existent.

Cheers, guys!!

If you've done you research you'll be just fine here, we'll even be happy to have you!lol

Outside of the lift itself there's plenty of need for imagination, looking forward to your eventual build.

Welcome! Sounds like you've been around a while but I'm glad to have you here. My calculator suggests your just under 200,000 miles. Nice! What offroad specific mods have you done?

I haven't been on board long, but welcome non the less. The suspension part of the lift is super cake, don't let it scare you... well, compressing the springs might.

sad to say, i haven't gotten anything done yet. i have shocks, bearings, and ball joints have arrived, thermostat is in truck (i modified that so there is a trickle flow in the closed state, so there is no major bursts of cool, and for future projects), the rest of the shopping list is coming in, as time and money allows.
it's taken so long to get started because everything i look at led to more questions, and if i didn't figure that out first.......the aforementioned disaster happens just on principle, because of that bastich, Murphy, and his stupid law.

might sound a little lame, but meh, it's my beast and it'll do it's job well, until i need it to do more. lol

Glad you found us. Don't worry too much about the stupid questions. If you have them, and they haven't been answered before, there are probably others out there with the same questions. Hopefully we can help you in your endeavors.
