Hi all. Im Brandon, I've got an 02 ltz with about 217k miles. I've have a 4x4 issue so that is most important. I'd like to build it as a "family going to the mountains and camp & play vehicle". My dad was into broncos when I was a kid. He passed away 2 months ago. So I'm going to carry on what he taught me with my kids. Take them to the places he took us. I do have a 74 bronco that was my grandpa's. That'll never be on a trail again. Its uncut with no rust. So the tb will be my choice.

Welcome! It sounds like your current mission leans toward the Expedition mindset. The build threads in that group are incredible. Maybe a place to start!

Thanks. Yes I agree but I need to address the 4x4 issue first. I'm not necessarily a rookie to 4x4. I'm aware a build for it in this point isn't as important as just getting out for the day/weekend.

welcome...and I'd love to see the bronco. Always been a fan...never had one.

Welcome....Had a 95XLT for I guess 8yrs, more of a trailer queen...But the quarters made me give up, that and some other cr@p that was going on at the time....You won't be upset with the TB though!

Welcome!
Brandon do you know the maintenance history? Our transfer case fluid has a short maintenance interval of 50K and can only use AUTOTRACK II. If you don't have any records I would suggest changing every fluid in the TB. :mechanic:

Thanks, I'll take a look. I've done some research but just haven't dove in.

I don't know the maintenance history other than your typical routine stuff that I take care of. Would you recommend changing the fluid before I narrow it down?

Naw but right after you narrow it down. Go thought the 4WD check list. However your issue "could be" (and I use this very loosely) in the transfer case if it has never been changed but you could get lucky.

Right, I understand. That's probably the best case scenario. But not likely. Thanks.

Welcome, your certainly near some great offroading or so I've read. Be sure to do some trip reports when you have the 4 wheel drive fixed and make some outings happen.
