New members: please introduce yourself here.

I have been a long time lurker here and decided that it was time to join.

This site has been an amazing resource for me as I am building up my TB, so now it is time to start giving back to the community.

I have already started a build thread, so check it out - suggestions welcome!

Welcome. to the site. Rocket launchers are great, but no one ever seems to agree with me. Oh well.
Once lifted 03 Trailblazer on 35's, gave it up to travel the USA with my family.

That's because I think a Barrett 50 is better suited for the TB. Rocket launchers make a real mess, and you need to be wearing oxygen when you launch from inside the vehicle.

Rocket launchers are cool, but I have always been partial to twin chain saws on actuating arms - mainly so that I don't have to reload during the impending zombie apocalypse...

But maybe that is just me!

Don't laugh, but I had 4 windows open when I was working on that - one for the guidelines and 3 others for some folks that look like they have been here for a while. First impressions, you know.

Definitely! Hey PM me if you want some more details on the shop that I used. They have always taken care of me and they were down right excited to lift a TB since it is not something that they get to do a lot.

I have been riding with some folks that I met through one of the Jeep Wrangler forums and have been down to George Washington National Forest (GWNF) a couple of times now. Good group of people and we usually have a ride about once a month. Best part is that they are responsible drivers. We are trying to work with the rangers to help keep GWNF in good shape so that we can continue to ride there.

Once I get more details, I will post it here also so that anyone who is in the area can help out, too. (and once I figure out the correct forum to post it in)

That sounds awesome. I talked to my buddy earlier and he said your lift went really smooth he laughed when I told him you beat me to it. I know when he had his Wrangler he used to hit a trail up off of 606 every now and then I'm gonna have to see if he can point me to it. I ordered a set of front springs and strut mounts which I'm waiting for and then I'm gonna do my lift hopefully in the next 2 weeks. So hold the title of the one and only for the time being haha

Sounds like you might be running with the same party I crashed a few years back. Are some of them members of the capital off road club, or something like that?

Where in gwnf? Flagpole? That's one of their favorites, and mine too.

606? You mean AOL trails? Be careful - that place is private property and riding there can get you into a LOT of trouble.

It is probably a different crew. The guys that I am riding with just joined wranglerforum last summer. So far I have had really good impressions of the folks from wrangerforum.

I have met a few folks from NoVa Jeepers who have left a bad impression, but from what I understand, there are a few bad apples in that group, so I will withhold judgment on that group for now.

At GWNF, we have done Peters Mill Run (good for a first ride, but not very exciting) and Flagpole Run (very enjoyable ride). The current pic in my build thread is from Flagpole. There is a thread over on Wrangler Forum where a guy with a GIS background is working on more detailed maps of the area. He is working on GPS mapping all of the trails in the park - well, all of them that are open at least.

And BTW, James, thanks for this great forum, but also for documenting your build. I used your modification page extensively for the work on my truck. And I have recommended the Vehicle Recovery page to everyone who asks me about recovery gear.

You, The Roadie, and Mike Barton are the main reasons I joined this forum!

It is something I would certainly like to attend. But the timing is bad. We have a major deliverable due at work the following week - and at our current pace, it is looking like I will have to work quite a few weekends between now and Apr 15th. With TECORE being the the 12-14th, that is right during the final shakedown before the product delivery. So we shall see.

Maybe the next trip will work out better. That would also give me more time to get some skid plates installed.
