Just about to purchase a 2003 Trailblazer 4.2l LT 4x4.

Hello all. My name is Chris. I am just about to purchase a one owner, clean carfax garage kept 2003 Chevy Trailblazer Metallic Grey. It has 108k miles on it. Very clean truck. Looks like pretty much the whole front suspension has been changed with grease fittings. New brakes, good tread on bad Fusion tires. Will upgrade that as soon as possible.
I know it needs a vent solenoid (easy) and right lower control arm.
I used to have a 2002 Nissan Xterra that was amazing for many years. Loved that truck but needed something bigger and this is an amazing deal.
I will update with pictures shortly.

Any advice is always welcome and can't wait to start working on it.

Welcome to the fray.

Advice: Read build threads and do it all the way you want the first time. Far cheaper in the end.
I hate to advocate weird chemicals, alcohol, violence or insanity to anyone...but
they've always worked for me.

So here is what I used to drive

Now this is what replaced it.

I am really liking the change. Sold my 2002 Xterra with 163k miles for $3,400 and switched out for this 2003 Trailblazer 4.2l 4x4 with 108k for $2,500.

Truck needs new right lower control arm, Vent Control valve, rear sway bar links (Ordered MaxxLink Sway Bar Link) and I am replacing the rear pinion seal and adding Royal Purple gear oil.

Truck needs a bottom unfinished plastic piece on rear bumper. the one on it is damaged beyond repair. Can't see to find just the bottom of the bumper cover. All that is our there is the whole bumper. If anyone has one let me know. I hope I could work out a deal for the bottom half of the bumper with someone who took the bumper off. PM me.

Will be looking to fix those pesky rear door moldings in the next week.

Going to magic eraser all the faded plastic pieces. Magic eraser usually takes off the oxidation. If that does not work I still have a bottle of Back to Black. That stuff worked great on my Xterra. Should be equally as good on the Trailblazer.

Look forward to reading through the forums.

I like both vehicles, but good choice either way. Does magic eraser really help that black/dark grey plastic?

I'd just mirror what Kyle said, develop a plan and try to do everything just once.

Exactly the reason I am on this forum. Doing the job right the first time is the way I work on my vehicles. Thanks for the great advice.

I work at as a salesman at a dealership and the Magic Eraser trick works like a charm. Use it all the time to make sun faded plastic look like new. Get the heavy duty ones because your going to go through a few of them.
