Mounted 4WD actuator onto AWD disconnect

G80, GU6, GT4, GT5, WTF? This section is for gearing and driveline stuff.

Since the 12471636 AWD sleeve is on indefinite back order, I ordered the entire AWD Disconnect assembly. After installing the disconnect, I wanted to mount the 4WD actuator on the disconnect as it has the actuator hole plugged, but the mounting holes are drilled and tapped.

Pry the plunger out by using a screwdriver in the slot.

I removed the plunger, spring and shaft.

Cleaned out the hex hole.

Needed to cut the shoulder down where the actuator housing would go into the disconnect housing, I cut just behind the circular rib.

After cutting.

Then mounted the actuator to the housing, connected the wireharness and it works perfectly. This way it is firmly mounted in the original location and not just zip tied somewhere open to the elements.

it's not showing a Service 4wd light?
Good work! I like the idea and creativity.
