You'll be gobs ahead just doing a SAS, leaf springs would be the easiest, links would be a fair bit harder, not so much in the front, but in the back cause of the fuel tank. Followed by an IFS of some sort... The Colorado front diff might fit in the stock subframe with a rear sump, with all the other options you're definitely removing the front subframe to have any hope of keeping it somewhat low, and by low I mean a roof height of 7-8 feet.
