Rock Lights installed

Decided to add some rock lights to the TB, as I will be going on a night run, not this weekend but next and figured they might be worth it.

Got the idea from another forum to use some cheap Wal*Mart lights (small square Platinum Burners) at about $18 a pair. Picked up two sets, one in front of the front tires and the other set behind the rear. Thinking of moving them in front of the rear tires, but I'll have to drill some holes. Right now I used existing holes/bolts to mount them.

Location seems pretty good right now up front, behind MTA bumper and up out of the way and should be protected pretty good from rocks/ mud but still allow good light output.

Wal*Mart Platinum Burners:

Mounted in front of the front wheels on both sides using existing fender bolt behind the front bumper:

Rear location (either side of the old spare tire):

Looks good, man.

Where else do you want lights? I assume front of rear wheel? I'm sure the collective could help determine a decent spot.

let us know what you do on the rear. Backing up at night with those tinted windows is a pain. I had thought about lights on a rack and some from under the rear bumper. Just not enough light back there. I had even thought about mounting something that shines through the rear bumper but haven't actually looked at it yet.

That's what I want but there is no good spot to mount them out of the way, that I could spot... Might just put them at the rear of the rear tires. Will be taking another look soon and possibly get them mounted up tonite/ tomorrow. We'll see...

Go inboard?... I'd imagine there is real estate on the frame rails a bit ahead of the tires...

Been looking, but need to take a better look, but that's what I was thinking. Just need to keep them out of harms way, but be able to throw some good light.

IIRC, there is a body mount just before the rear control arms. I think there is ample space there with minimal obstruction, plus you have the added protection of your sliders.

Yep, thats a good idea. I'll either relocate the ones in the rear, or pick up one more set for the middle of the truck. Right now I used existing hole/ bolts, so I'd just have to drill some for that spot. Got some thinkin' to do.

Rear lights?

They come in handy! They now have LED ones that you could run.

Don't have them on at the moment but will likely put the rack back on before too long, just gives me that much more room up top for the tire and any emergency tools that may be needed.

And instead of it saying cruiser by my name.. wouldn't it be more fitting as, Depth finder, or Scuba Steve.. Yes The TB has been named Steve so I can refer to it as scuba Steve. :D

That label is dictated by how many posts you have.

You would have to fabricate brackets of course but have you considered removing the two rear reflectors, cutting the plastic bumper cover, and mounting something that shines thru there?

I haven't crawled under it yet to look but I had thought about that. I kind of like the idea of doing it from a rack though because i think it would provide more usable light for other things.

As far as clearance lighting in front of your rear wheels, did you try to angle your lights in the back a bit forward to see if they would shine up under the sides of your frame?

This is far down on my list of things that need, but it is in the plans.

This install looks very good btw, I had the same thought about the sides of the old spare tire mount as well.

Haven't really played with them, its been way too hot out lately, but I may try to point them toward the front of the wheels and see how well the light shines up there. Might work as these are decently bright for cheap lights.

I was thinking that, they look very bright. I bet if you angled them towards the front a bit you may achieve a decent amount of light behind, and in front of your axle.
