Soo... Being a staright-up newb to ORTB, What exactly is TECORE? ve done searches on the forum and only come up with reviews, and Ive read through a few. Ive done searches on GOOGLE and only come up with some crazy company. Is this an event where members just go hang out and off-road; Is it part of something bigger? The only thing I can come up with for the anagram of TECORE is Traliblazer & Envoy Community Off-Roading Extravaganza... I was gonna say Event, but thought Extravaganza had a nice ring. Im really interested in the history of this event. I think I even might be able to get the wifey on board as well. Next, what are the minimum requirements I should be looking at as far as my vehicle. I have been hinting very heavily to the in-laws that all I want for Christmas is a MarkMc 3" kit. I do plan on flipping the UCA's, but maybe a little later, when there is money for ball-joints and control arm bushing. Right now Im running 255/65/16's. I know this will look a little goofy with the lift, but all things in stages... Should I try to make it in April, or just get some more upgrades done to the truck, besides what I just mentioned. Then try to make it out to the next one, after April. Sorry... Didnt mean to invite myself, but is this little shin-dig open to everyone?

YouTube. Tecore...the videos will show you what is basically a necessity for the trip.

I think it was for The East Coast Off Road Event.....

You can go stock, but skidplates would be almost a must. Decent tires and a fullsize spare are needed/desired.

It is basically us TB and Envoy guys getting together to camp and wheel for a weekend with all having the same basic trucks and contributing on here. It is open to basically everyone on here, so you were already invited.

Being your in KY, we ought to hit up some more local wheeling first. I been meaning to get down that way for awhile and generally a few of us do a New Years run the weekend before or after New Year at the Badlands up in Attica IN.

TECORE is Trailvoy East Coast Off Road Expedition. Expedition is the key word. It is a multi-day wheeling/camping trip. It requires you to live out of your truck, hours away from pavement for 3 days. It's a good time.

Yes, Anyone who can show up to the meeting place at the meeting time is invited. Most of the offroading is light, stock trucks have done it. The more lift and armor you have, the better though, but your above set up sounds fine.

Basic camping equipment, tent, sleeping bad, stove/grill. Food/cooler, Your tools and any recovery equipment. Water, any survival gear you may posses, a firearm if you wish (tenting in bear country), beer of your choice.

This sounds like I'd be in heaven for three days... HARDTRAILZ, would oil skid plate be sufficient, or would you recommend oil and radiator?

Radiator before oil I really think. The radiator is really vulnerable and prolly easy to get someone to donate a plastic stock oil skid if you dont have one. I gave mine away awhile back, but might be able to find you one if needed.

Ed, I'm with HARDTRAILZ on the radiator skid. The radiator is really vulnerable and two guys smacked their skids pretty good during the fall run. You'll also probably want to take off the front bumper cover so it doesn't get removed. An oil pan skid wouldn't hurt at all... they're relatively cheap/easy to make.
I would strongly encourage a CB too.
Bring the stuff you think you'll need, tools, spare parts, camping gear, food, water, beer, whiskey, recovery gear etc.
It's mostly just explorin some trails in the mountains during the day and then camping and bullshittin around a fire at night while we eat and drink.

I'd go with both, we whacked them pretty good last fall. My friend is gonna make a "saved my ass" decal to go under my MDB Fabrication one. CB is a plus, I have handheld to loan out but they are not the best.

It really depends, to me... If your stock plastic oil pan shield is intact, the radiator is the first one I'd get; but if you don't have anything under the oil pan (or the door is broken off of your stock one), i would make or buy an oil pan skid first. The oil skid is lower and does get hit more, and is more catastrophic if you knock the oil pan drain plug off than if you crack the radiator, but the stock plastic deal down there does an Ok job as long as you are careful and don't smack it too hard.

I would also recommend relocating the breather tubes for the rear axle/transfer case/tranny etc. Easy and cheap mod that will help keep water out of places you really don't want it to get to, in the event we run into water that deep.

Speaking of deep water, I was watching the TECORE II videos and was wondering if those trails are closed as we have not hit them on the last 3 outtings. maybe James knows...

I knew we tried some trails that ended up being closed, didn't know if it was those.

Those were the ones that we slowed down on 33 to try and do.

I want to thank all of you for your suggestions, but don't think I'll be able to make it. Next one for sure. Just don't have the budget for it right now.

Yeah, that closure was a big hullabaloo a few years back. City of Harrisonburg owned the plot, and the NFS had a right of way forest road that went through it. City said it was putting too much silt into the water supply for the city, so they put up a gate where the road goes through their property, and put huge rock piles at other illegal entrances.

I honestly think it was more likely some tree hugger in the city council that heard about the road and had some moral disapproval to it.

I went through the whole property a few years back when it was open. viewtopic.php?f=57&t=311

I propose we stay away from any of the mountain tops that have a cell signal this time. I never saw such a lively talkative group go quiet so quick. :camping:
