I get that, but some of us are members (or soon to be member) of treadlightly. I believe they ask you not to use dead wood, or even dried sticks on the ground....because as mentioned earlier they are homes for bugs, and the breakdown helps keep the soil rich with nutrients.
I guess what I am waiting for now is JD to step in and let us know the rule is for the trip. What the park may allow, he may have a different rule for.

I know the Roadie is really strict about leaving nothing behind, and taking what you need, including wood with you. leaving the smallest possible impact on the land possible is of great concern.
