What a great weekend! While this is now the farthest offroad park from my house, I think it is truly my favorite. I will be back!
Tuesday and Wednesday this week involved me wearing a suit. I can not tell you how difficult it is to stay clean when the truck is covered in mud. Especially Wednesday morning after it had rained all night and it was no longer dry mud that could be brushed off!
When it is all said and done, I broke 2 tie rods, had a synthetic winch rope snap, forcefully removed my roof rack on a vertical tree (2nd page picture with cuts and red paint on the tree. My truck was almost on the drivers side when I hit the tree) and a cut in the sidewall of a new tire. I am estimating 800 in damages to the truck and what bugs me the most is losing the Oakleys. It is an excuse to go bigger and better. Those that know keep your mouth shut, those that don't will have to wait until mid July to find out what is next!
Once again, I was pushing the boundaries of this platform and suffered the consequences. I have no regrets though, it was a great time with some good friends and a new friend. With less than 5 years of experience in this sport I was comfortable leading, following, getting out of the way when needed, and being the sole truck to push down an extreme marked trail.
I did get some go pro video, one of these days I will figure out how to edit the video so it is able to be posted. We will see....
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do.
So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
