CB antenna mounts similar to a firestick need the be made of metal and have a good ground back to the vehicle. That doesn't mean through the screws holding the mount and flat metal surface to metal surface is suggested. Other wise you are wasting you time and effort. CB radio/antenna install is NOT plug and play. I'd suggest some reading http://www.firestik.com/Tech_Docs.htm

Magnet antenna and handheld unit was my go to for years.

Magnet mount antennas are different animal than a firestick type antena, they need a really good ground. Sure you can get lucky, most do and most run them with shitty SWR and limited range. Sure on a trail with others you could be fine. Anything higher that 3:1 SWR and you risk frying the cb under long term communication. Sure short burst of talking lets the radio cool down in those conditions and your fine for now. But long term you will shorten the life of the radio. Basically if you have a 3:1 SWR or higher most of the your transmit power is going back into the radio and not getting radiated out in the air. The radio has to dissipate that power and it does so in heat. Ideally you want less then 2:1 SWR at ch 1 & 40.

Getting them out was easy, I just read my haynes maunal to fast. I torqued the bolts to Ft/Lbs insted of In/Lbs *Snap*. I haven't turned a wrench in a few years for any serious repairs, and it shows. I pulled off the timing cover this morning and drilled out the bolt with a left hand drill bit. I got 5 new bolts from Carquest, going to finish it up once I get off work tonight. Also noticed my radiator was leaking at a seam, but its holding pressure, so Ill address that when it becomes a problem.

Well, first I asked to Mike for his steel bumper kit. But to ship it in Canada it's very expensive.
Now I'm looking to do it by myself. I was inspired by Mike's bumpers.

I will solicit bids and I'll see if the price are ok for me.
If it's not possible my last idea is to do like Karo did.

I disconnect the upper control arm from the Upper BJ and when I let it down my cv shaft just came right out no effort required. I pushed it back in and now I cant pull it out. So I wonder if it worked its way out?

Did you ever remove the cv shaft before, or had some work done by a shop? I remember that when I replaced the driver's side seal I had to push with quite a bit of force to get the c-clip to engage, but I had to do it a few times, and it looked like it was fully in, but it would slide right out.

My guess is, just like James', assembly error at some point in time.

You wouldn't be the first person to not get the CV seated and have it work it's way out

I generally hear a difference in the sound of the hammer strikes when it gets seated. It becomes much more solid sounding once its fully seated.

I probably didn't seat it properly when I rebuilt it.

Had a shop install a new front hub for me today, while I was at work. The mechanic told me he replaced the one that was noisy on his stethoscope, but that the other should be done soon, as well. Sure enough, I can still hear a faint rumble from the front. He also spotted a wonky UBJ on the right, so I'll have to replace both when I get the lift installed. I'm trying to save for the lift, but the rear brake job on my K3500 and the new TB hub have eaten that money for this month, so the lift waits, again. :-(

Yea, hubs are cake as long as the axle nut isn't sticky. You can generally rent the needed tools from a local parts store in the US, but may be different for you all.

Couldn't even total how many tens of thousands I've saved on doing my own work on stuff.

I got new shoes today. Went with Mastercraft MXT 265/75r16. $766 out the door. They make very little noise on the road, much quieter than the Guard Dog. Then again anything is quieter than them.

I wonder if the reason for the noise the Guard Dogs produce is cause they are retreads. UPS uses retreaded tires and they make some decent noise.

Thanks man! :thumleft: I kinda agonized over which tires to get, ask V7GUY. :D Until I got the quote for these. I was going to go with cooper AT3 but the MXT were just a little more money than the coopers AT3 even with the $70 rebate running now.

BTW the Mastercraft MXT LT265/75R16E tires are 2 ply side walls. Confirm by looking on the tire. I didn't know this beforehand. However, I believe many of the E tires today are going with 2 ply sides. Bunch of the tires I have been thinking going with are this way and IIRC even the Fierce Attitude MT have 2 ply sidewalls. This is only a small sample so pretty much unconfirmed, just wanted to throw it out there to make others aware. I would wager only BFG, Procomm and Interco have 3 ply sideways in a E tire but this is purely speculation.
