I'm still on my original 02 fan clutch. The truck had the reprogram done back in 03. It's always been fine. 110K miles now.

Yesterday I was towing a loaded 6x12 utility trailer (3500lbs or so total). I was towing in 3rd on the highway and set the code. I scanned it and cleared it when I got to my destination. Towed the same trailer back empty (2000lbs) in D. No code. Haul another load in 3, code. Repeat clearing, driving back in D. 3rd and subsequent loads never set the code again.

Follow up.

Drove around all day yesterday, half the day with the trailer loaded (up to about 4500 lbs).

Never set the code again. Officially calling it a fluke.


Also, gears make your truck tow like a boss, even on 35s.
