Squeal at idle... really loud when shutting off engine.

Something not working right?

Any idea what this may be? This noise only started a few weeks back. Prior to this, I had replaced my belt, alternator/pulley, and my idler pulley. I'm thinking maybe fan clutch, as it is still original. The audio was recorded from my driver side wheel well. Its noticeable inside the truck as well, sometimes more so then others.

My first thought is the belt sounds too tight, but listening again it sounds more like it's just new. You are very likely on the correct path in questioning the clutch though.

The belt isn't new. Its been on the vehicle for a couple of years now. Nowhere near as long as the original was on, though.

The only other thing I can possibly think of... is that the Alternator is only a couple of months old. The new alt came with a new pulley.

Have you tried the bar-of-soap trick on the belt to hear what difference it makes? ( Be careful )

When I worked at a dealer, we used silicon spray to determine whether it was the belt or a pulley.... May be a bit safer then sticking a bar of soap under there... :thumright:
