Disconnect snapped and stuck in oil pan

Something not working right?

by angryninjaduck » Sun Jul 17, 2011 2:48 pm

Okay, so everything was going along great. Removed the four bolts holding the disconnect to the oil pan. It was stuck so I put a little more effort into it's removal and it finally budged.

Pulled it out... Uh what? The collar that seats into the oil pan snapped off and was still in the oil pan. So good news I got it out, bad news, now I definitely need a new disconnect.

I can't see that anyone here has had this happen to them. But any ideas what the best way to get the collar out will be? Suppose I can chisel it out slowly, but afraid i'll get debris in the oil pan, and I don't want to have to remove or get a new oil pan. So, maybe someone has a better idea?

thanks much

Aaahhh, I do recall reading that article when I was researching my project.. Totally forgot about it. Thanks, I'll give that a try.

Thanks!

The pan is closed, so unless you chisel or drill through the oil pan casting, you'll be ok.
