Purolator had some good air filters. As long as the filter is doing it's job and filtering out the dust, you're really not going to see differences between them. I would definitely go non-oiled.

Manual? See section 5-97. ;)

Tank size has no bearing on mpg or its calculation

So your saying the calculation would be the same as for a 10 gallon tank and a 30 gallon? Now im lost

Yes. You use the amount of fuel you put in not the tank size.

well see now im not sure about the whole thing cause JD had to go and help me prove myself wrong hahaha  . I have the RPO code NNK its actually a 22 gallon tank.

And you are correct I was calculating the whole thing wrong. I was calculating from an 18.7 gallon tank (which i actually have 22) instead of exact amount of gas used. Ill have to take note of that next time i go on a big trip and see what it is then

So you have no clue what your mpg is.

Check it over a few tankfuls as conditions can easily skew a small sample.

How do you calculate accurately with the tank size?

Going off tank size all you know is how much it could hold.

You dont know what was in there or how much you put in there.

I agree with you, and was only further clarifying your statement.

For instance, if you are on empty then fill up only 4 gallons, drive 50 miles, then top off the tank with 18 gallons, you'd have some really shitty mileage (2.7mpg).

Lol.

To clarify you also need to fill up about the same time of day w same temperature. Have no one else pumping as that can affect flow at some stations. Lots of variables.

Easiest to keep a record over 1000 miles or so since the variables and their effects tend to be minimized over a larger sampling.

Or you could set up an account on gasbuddy.com and input your fill-ups and it will keep the calculations for you.

woah, now getting my MPG down to that level of accuracy is mildly unnecessary. I just take the mileage from that tank and divide it by the amount of gas (gallons) that I put in.

So now I'm kinda weirded out. I don't remember ever putting in more than 18 gallons and I fill up with the light on every time. I like to get as much old gas out before the new ya know. And with now knowing I have a 22 gallon tank rather than 18.7 that mean I still have 4 gallons I'm running off of. How much do you guys normally fill up with?

I know when I'm using my range meter it kicks off at and the light comes on at 20 miles. That seems kinda weird with 4 gallons left over. And yes I know it's just and estimate but still I'd think it would be closer than that

I try to.keep mine above half. Not good to run it down low all the time.

I just have my own spreadsheet on Google Docs.

And I don't go to that much precision either. Because I can't. Sometimes I end up getting gas at a different station, and one day the weather can be hot and high, and the next day it will be cold and high

I don't really care what kind of mpg I get. When its empty I fill it up. We drive heavy Suv's... I wouldn't even want to know what kind of mpg I get now with the lifts and bigger tires lol.

Lol, I'm sure yours is the worst for gas mpg.

Hopefully you're adjusting your numbers for the 42" tires, cause otherwise you'd probably get negative MPG's.
