Offroad Trailblazers and Envoys

Before I get the Lift installed...

BDS, ReadyLift, Smaxx... You name it, we know about it here.

by Cable810 » Wed Apr 04, 2012 1:16 pm

I'm not really forbidden to work on my truck its just that my parents would want someone that knows what they are doing. If I had a mentor to show me this stuff I think they would be cool with it.

I forgot to mention this but Its 300 for the lift installed w/alignment and a additional 120 to flip the UCAs

The more I see big prices to do stuff like this makes me want to do it myself more and more.

I have to respect my parents wishes

I had a dream a few nights ago that I met Roadie... Maybe its a sign.....

Rory, think about it from this stand point, you buy/help buy your kid a decent vehicle to get them through HS/College.
Some kids will take great care of it, others would lift it with wood blocks and put 35's and cut fenderwells and have something that isn't very safe or last and in a year they are needing something else to get them to school.

If my son wanted to lift his jeep I would tell him to go for it. I would help him research which lifts fit his budget and then help him put it on to make sure it was on right. All parent's aren't able to do that.

Maybe they can look over the lift install article and oversee you doing it?

before they put it all back together make sure they at least put a hose clamp on the inner CV boot so it has some hope in hell of staying put.

Follow directions or old spec. If you can't work on it yourself make sure you have another $2000 or more ready for the failures in the coming month or two. Almost all the info you've been given and will need is in the forum. Do a search and start reading.

After the lift I'll have 266 left over...... If you could line me up on what faliures I'm looking comeing my way, at I can atleast start somewhere. I can't start from nothing. I AM NOT going to be wheeling hard like Roadie, Hardtrailz, or Regulator, just to name some. Mostly its just to have clearence to get into places a stock TB can't get to.

Calling the shop today to see what time monday.

Shortly after lifting mine, I had to replace both cv axles, since the boot fell off, didn't have to, but tb stock boots are crappy and wanted to replace them with cardones.

I had that happen as well but I noticed it right away and repacked everything and used a big hose clamp to hold the boot on with. My advice is just use the hose clamp from the start. Then replace the cv when you have to

Hose clamp the Inner or outer? Cause looking at the boots they have clamps on each end. I'll get some pics up.

Depends on who you ask and which thread it's in. People have had problems with both.

The factory clamps can come off. All of us that have had that problem had factory clamps to my knowledge atleast. But for some reason the factory clamps dont seem to last too long after a lift. On mine the boots closest to the the engine came off. I havent had any problems with the outer ones YET. Word of advise once you go lifted you should have so emergency cash on hand at all times.

I have more in the bank than that. Thats how much I'll have left after the lift is installed. Yes I do have an extra money in a seperate account.

N thank you Dity Bacon, should have added JD.

Now I just want to make sure I'll be putting the camps in the right spot. Circled in read is where I put the new clamps?

No on the other ends the big clamps seem to fail most. So if you follow that boot up from the circled part to where it is bigger thats what we are talkin about.
