what about the springs?

BDS, ReadyLift, Smaxx... You name it, we know about it here.

ok guys so I'm getting ready to order up Mark's 2.5 lift and I got a little idear in me head about the rear springs popping out. I wasn't too sure it was possible...and upon further investigation of youtube videos....it is quite possible.

so with that being said...how worried do I have to be about this with the 2.5 lift? I would have to go to maximum excursion in order for it to happen, yes?

Youtube videos of OUR vehicles popping springs? Links?

I don't see it being REMOTELY possible unless you install a longer shock than the BDS, and are able to put the springs in without unbolting the shock. Normally it's a pry bar or strong boot job to get the springs in over the domed perches EVEN with the shocks unbolted.

with my Z71 springs and 3/4 inch spacer I had a really hard time with a pry bar and hammer getting them in with the shocks disconnected.
I didn't disconnect the sway bar though, unsure thinking back how much difference that would have made.
If nobody on this board has had one pop out then I doubt it will come out.

yea, no need to worry. Don't forget to put RTV on the top of the rear spacer or your in for some unwanted noise!

Couldn't you not have to use the pry bar if you just used a long jack to separate the axle and the top part far enough apart?

I had to have a friend step on the rotor to get my stock ones in, and a spring compressor when I put in the z71s. You could use the bottle jack from the car to press down on the axle to get them in or out, between the axle and the body I would assume. It's been a while since I did mine, so not sure.

It's best if you know WHAT you're overstressing if you need to use a bottle jack. Brake lines are a bit riskier to stress than a connected anti-sway bar.
