Offroad Trailblazers and Envoys

WHAT IS RPO CODE ZW7 (PREMIUM SUSPENSION) ?

BDS, ReadyLift, Smaxx... You name it, we know about it here.

My truck has the RPO code ZW7 (PREMIUM SUSPENSION)

Does anybody know what is the "PREMIUM" suspension ? Is there a normal suspension ?
Was this an upgrade over a base suspension package ? What's different if anything ?

It's a marketing lie. There were no "upgraded" suspension options ever offered. The factory scheduling computer selected the springs for each corner of the vehicle to match what the designers specified for the weight of the option list items (engine, 2/4WD, SWB/LWB, etc.). There are as many as 12 different springs the factory chose from, but all of them were designed to deliver the "same" ride as the designers specified. We always presumed that Envoys were meant to be more marshmallowy than Trailblazers, especially after I discovered the shift times in the tune tables were mushier on my stock Envoy than a stock TB. Fixed that in a tune ASAP.

The factory made a big deal about using "Bilstein" shocks, but they are crappy OEM designed-to-cost shocks that happened to come from sell-out engineers and marketing goofs at Bilstein, who you used to be able to trust. Now you have to pay extra to get a decent aftermarket Bilstein to obtain what the factory implied you were getting with the OEM vehicle.

The change to 2.5" MarkMC w/ BDS 55619 was the best money spent. I drive 90% higway and I was afraid it would negatively impact my work commute. Its been great. Made the suspension a little stiffer and the ride is perfect. The truck should have come from the factory this way.

That's good to read. I'm planning on the same lift soon. I'll be adding the spacers as well, but sticking with the factory 245/65 17s for now.
