Offroad Trailblazers and Envoys

I'm a little worried...

Need new shoes? This is the place to discuss.

So I got the H3 rims with stock 285/75/16 tires at the house, but I'm worried about them rubbing. Anybody have any idea about what I am going to run into? Or am I just sitting here with too much time and being paranoid?

Search!

Your going to need spacers, and along with spacers your going to need to run adapters to change your hub (6x5) to match your rim (6x5.5)

Those are big tires too... almost 33"ers. I presume you'll have some decent trimming to do.

Oh yeah I know about the spacers/adapters I have some 1.5" already. I know I am going to have to trim too, I was planning on having to trim some on the front and rear bumper cover and wheel wells...I was just worried that I might have to get smaller tires sooner than I planned cause of the fit as in bottoming out on top of the wheel well...I have seen other TB's with H3 rims...just wondering if any of the guys have ran into any kind of trouble running the stock tires with them...

Sorry but I couldn't find anything like this in the search either...all I saw was guys running 265/75/16 with H3 rims

I would say you are gonna have some serious trimming to do.

Why worry? Trimming is part of the price of admission. And avoiding hitting the top of the wheel well is why one gets a lift.

Embrace the trim. :woot:

I had to trim form and rear with that size tire and suspension lift only. Once you make the first cut, it isn't painful anymore. I never bashed the fender, but I never flexed enough to. Once I get my new set of 33s, I'll more than likely throw 2" of body lift on to ensure that doesn't happen.

Besides, if you're going up there is a reason for it, you're gonna want to take it off-road. Not sure where your home base is, but out here in Colorado, a little bit of damage is inherit. So if you're gonna go up and take it in the shit, be prepared for more than your gonna get from doing a little trimming :flex dirty:

A point I made on the OS years ago was basically - if you worry TOO much about the pristine condition of the vehicle, you might be tempted to give too much weight to preserving it in case it hits the fan out there on the trail. It's a tool, and you must be prepared to sacrifice it if necessary to save your life. Teebes was with me on Wheeler Ridge on the day I asked him to tie a strap to an uphill boulder, and lead it in the passenger window and I tied it to myself in case the Roadiemobile went over a 4000 foot dropoff due a crumbling trail surface. A bit dramatic, maybe, but it was the closest I came to soiling my pants ever. This was after I got out and could breathe again.

You want to be out there where the air is clear and the visibility is 100 miles - embrace the trim.

The trim is well embraced! I actually look forward to using my new Dremel when I get home. I was just worried about travel and the tires actually fitting in the wheel wells at all.
