by Hpimichael02 » Fri Jan 07, 2011 5:41 pm

so after some debate and after talking to ex military guys, they say that the 37" humvee tires are goo off road and good on road- not the best but okay...

so instead of getting teh treadwright 37" tires im jumping on these a set of humvee 37" they will go on when the body lift is on..

any thoughts before i purchase which will be tommorrow .. please let me know

Did I miss a planning thread about how to fit 37's in there without jamming on the firewall? Or is this for a non-GMT360 vehicle? :?

Can your axles, differentials, transfer case, and everything else that is already a weak component on these vehicles, handle 37's? That's my question...

Gordinho80- only one way to find out- and people run 35"s with out issue granted its more weight and roational weight, but i wont be wheeling so hardcore and northern folks- im only worried about the front diff other than that it should be okay -

37" tires are 14-bolt territory. I think you're in for some carnage.

KNEW IT! You tried to lie to me :finger:
Honestly I can't see the 37s weighing much more than anyone elses 35s, they measure out at about 36" on a truck and are only 12.5" wide. 8.6" rear would help though, and I hope you at least have the 4.10s...
They are not good on the road, from what I've seen, be happy to get 10k out of them, but at 100$ each its not bad.
You beat me to 37s, that was my plan once these tires wear out :flex dirty:

I would carry a six-pack of tie rod ends, myself. So this is just a bogger?

I can't see this being functional. Sure, it will look great - but I'm looking forward to seeing it make a U turn.

35 inch actual tire height hit the firewall and 35s rub front of rear wheelwell at full stuff withou modding rear arms. I can see them possible for street use but not wheeling. I picked up some 35 km1 to see if they can wheel without modding firewall or to see where to cut firewall. Pics of them with suspension stuffed and wheels turned please.

Can you find the right wheels? AFAIK, all the military 37s come on a 16.5 wheel (which Kyle discussed previously on the OS). Some company is making 16.5 wheels, but I saw them on a recent F-350, so they at least come in Ford's 8 lug pattern. I wasn't able to find a 6x5 to 8x(something) converter some time ago, as I considered buying 16" or 17" 8-lug wheels from a 2500/3500, as those are found really cheap everywhere (too many people putting XD Monsters and things of that sort). But if you can find wheels that size for our pattern, or a 6 to 8 converter, let me know.

I believe you can also find those tires in 36x12.5
This is an aggressive post. You probably won’t like it. It is quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to be able to appreciate a post of this quality and depth.

There are 6 lug 16.5 steel wheels available. It was through 4wp or pro comp I think. The issue I found researching more is the 16.5 have bead issues for wheeling. Hummers run beadlocks but I am not sure there are 6 lug 16.5 beadlocks and if not you got to worry about airing down and popping a bead.

so far the fire wall will be getting tubbed out easyily done with a trailer fender but the only issue we run into is how close it comes to the steering connection and brake booster and the brake pedal shaft through the firewall, but thats what i can think off on the top of my head... as for the rear maybe cutting part of the door re closing the seal and tubbing out the rear def gonna have to re carpet the rear ... rear control arms that are adjustable... the 8.6 rear end will be comming, but no G80 cause i dont think it could handle that weight and size, the front diff is my main concern right now. if that breaks then we got something else in store...

but before i tube the front out, im gonna lower the strut .5"-1.5" depending and as well as having a shop pro helping me adjust the control arms and making the angle better and bracing the changes to them. so in turn lower the strut tower that little with help the front get a tad bit taller so less tubbing.. im taking the fender half way up the crease in the fender and plating and open hole area. (so that leaves the CV axle- .....to be continued)

this is not gonna be for the faint hearted and there will be broken stuff, but if it doesnt then whats next... after all itll be more of a bogger than the sierra mountain cruiser, and a sand trail cruiser so still off road just not what bill and teebes get into or what kyle does in bad lands lol... itll be attempted..

im not sure if the tie rods but im sure they will hold up ...
