I did briefly look at that before I just made my own simple winch mount... I figured a winch is 100# by itself, plus whatever that thing weighs, and there are no handles on it... I just figured that adding all of my shackle mounts, straps, snatch blocks, etc. to the same unit, it just adds weight... I also don't like my $$$ extraction equipment just hanging' out under a clear cover, for somebody to snag while I'm inside the store...

Don't get me wrong, it's a cool item, but it's more complexity than I wanted...

Cover is opaque, which they hint at that in last sentence of the description.

Edit: Also looking closely there seems to be key holes to lock them

It says they are Locking containers,so i dont think that would be something to really worry about. Plus some simple vinyl or spray paint could be utilized to darken/blacken them out so that one cannot see inside.

Personally I like the idea of it myself, could tie it into a bumper and i think it'd look rather nice, and any extra storage you can get is always worth it.

There is something to be said for mostly weather protecting a winch you're going to keep on there all the time..

DmccartneyFF2TB have you seen any more detailed pictures of this? Could the bumper cap be cut and used in this application? :coffee:
