Powertrax No Slip Locker Help

OK, so I installed a brand new 8.6" rear (for $600 complete!) and attempted to install a Powertrax. The issue I am having is I cannot get the pin back in to finish it up! My questions are:
1. How many of yall had this problem and what did you do?
2. I want to remove the locker and start again but I am having issues removing the passenger side. Any tips on removing to start over?

If there is a topic on this already, please let me know.

Removal should be just straight up reverse install. I do recall it taking a sec to get it right though.

If you can't assemble the pin in, I'm betting your synchro isn't positioned right.

I remember it taking a couple stabs at popping the gears in to get everything to line up, but nothing overly difficult.

lining up the sycros is your issue. need to make sure they are 180 deg offset of each other. Take it out and start over. To assist you can scratch some marks on the side where you can see it installed, to mark the missing tooth.

Thanks for the responds. My issue is I cannot remove the locker to start over! Short of cutting the carrier in half, I am out of ideas! Any ideas?

You've gotta give us more to work with. Pictures would be very handy of your current state. What are you unable to do exactly? What step of the removal are you stumped on?

Are your half shafts in? Could you get the C clips out? Or are you in the phase where you have the halfshafts out and just cannot seem to remove the halves of the locker?

I installed the locker into the carrier. As I insert the cross pin, it becomes jammed and will not budge. After investigating, the driver side active space is not line up properly. After noticing this, I decided to remove the whole system, in which I cannot. I have removed the passenger c clip and axle, but cannot remove the locker from the carrier. I cannot get the passenger active washer to disengage from the passenger coupler to remove the passenger half of the locker. Hopefully this helps. Pics are coming soon.

That helps a lot more. Lets work off of the figure below.

So to reiterate, the pin passed through the drivers, but got hung up on the driver side active spacer. However, upon disassembly, you removed the passenger side half shaft and are attempting to remove that side.

So you're saying that the active spacer on the passenger side will now not come out of the coupler. Does this mean that the passenger side-driver will disengage from the coupler, but the active spacer seems to stay meshed with the coupler? Or is there just not enough room to remove the driver and active spacer from the coupler because the driver side gears are in a disengaged state?

As I recall, its hard to see what is going on down in the carrier when its in this state. I also don't recall - can you remove the C clip from the driver side at this point? or are the ring gear teeth in the way? If you can just pull the carrier out at this point, that may be a good option for you to at least get the diff out on a bench and work on it that way. Sometimes just getting more hands on it and a new perspective is all that is required to get it fixed. My guess is that the tight bore between the active spacer and the coupler is what is hanging you up, and if you could work it back and forth from two sides, you might be able to free it up. Looking forward to the pics.

I'm having issue posting pictures to the forum. I'm guessing size limit.

I can disengage the passenger driver piece. However, I cannot disengage the passenger active spacer. Upon further investigation, the driver side active spacer is not fully engaging the driver side coupler, there fore preventing me from disengaging the passenger side. I tried holding the driver side driver and rotating the axle in hopes of properly aligning the spacer and coupler to no avail. The driver side half of the locker has a lot of wiggle room. I tried removing that half, but again met with failure. I have got to find a way to properly align the driver side active spacer with the coupling. Once I do this, everything else should fall into place...in theory!

Drop your pin down into the drivers, but not the active spacers. Then I'd try rotating the driver side tire. That may allow you to get your active spacer aligned to the pin - basically what you said you were trying to get done. I think the key is putting the pin in place to prevent rotation of the driver, then hopefully rotating the coupler and active spacer will align them to the pin.

By the way, try uploading your image again. I changed a setting.

I fixed it. I held the driver apart from the coupler while a friend rotated the driver side axle one tooth at a time until we got the active spacer aligned with the wide gap in the coupler. After that, I inserted the pin, which got stuck about 75% of the way in. I rotated the locker and notice the spacers were becoming disengaged under the weight of the pin. I then gently love tapped it with a rubber mallet. When in the rest of the way and now I am good to go!

Thanks for all the help! I will be updating my build soon, now that I am running an 8.6 with a locker on 32s!
