Help identifying Tahoe rear springs

New Trailblazer owner here. After reading the great info on this site and Trailvoy, I'm in the planning stages of doing a basic suspension lift. Seeing the prevalence of Tahoe Z71 rear springs, I decided to hit up eBay and searched for part number 15234633. I found a seller who was selling these springs so I ordered a set, but what I got is NOT that part number. I received springs with the part number 22811851.

After doing some research, I found that these are Tahoe springs, with a match for the 2012 Tahoe "W/4WD, W/O AUTO LVLG CNTRL". I also see a match for "TAHOE, YUKON; 4WD; W/OFF ROAD CHASSIS". I'm not seeing any spring part numbers for that model year designated for the Z71 package specifically (unlike the shocks, which explicitly state that). I can't find any more detailed information about these springs. My question is: are these the Z71 equivalent? Or should I return them to the seller?

For reference, these springs are 17.25" tall, and the spring coil is .73" diameter in the middle.

It looks like the nomenclature "Coil spring, tahoe, yukon, 4wd, w/off road chassis" is the same between the two springs, but there isn't a notice for a superceded part number for 2012+. I wonder if they changed something minor on the new spring. Theoretically they should still work right?

Returning stuff like this to eBay sellers is such a PITA.

Welcome! You should be aware that all of us who posted thousands of technical threads to Trailvoy, and who started the off-road section, also departed trailvoy in Dec 2011 after the site was bought by a profit-mongering corporation from Toronto, Vertical Scope. The entire admin and mod team started up a new site GMTNation.com, where we continue to help owners with the more typical non-offroad-related questions. You might consider joining up there. (I'm one of the founders of ORTB, started the week after this Toronto outfit bought Trailvoy, and I'm still a mod at GMTN. Trailvoy, unique among all forums I've ever been a part of, is now a total ghost town with ZERO moderators and the spammers run rampant.)

That said, I have no data on spring size or part changes after 2011.

The springs we specify to buy are indeed used on the Tahoe/Avalanche Z71 option list, but the dirty little secret (shhhhh) is they are ALSO used on the stock non-Z71 suspension package. It just makes us feel better to discuss a Z71 option because the GMT360 platform SHOULD have been offered with one. I think the biggest changes for the Tahoe/Avalanche option package were tires and shocks.

I recall reading that one of the large Z71 spring sellers on Ebay was selling very low mileage (or zero miles) takeoffs from Border Patrol trucks that received substantial upgrades and modifications in the suspension. I believe I got mine from him. It never made sense why they would order a Z71 suspension that was going to be removed anyways (it made some sense considering that these trucks were purchased by a DHS agency, but other than that I saw no reason for the waste).

I don't think they sell them anymore. I started a Z71 spring thread when I figured that out. It was when TBYODA was looking for some because of the Radflo Group Buy.

I got mine P/N 25978750 from this guy, militarysurplusparts, other then being layered in dust and the package ripped open on delivery they looked brand new.

Anyone who wants these springs for cheap better jump on them! It says he only has 2 left! I suspect our supply has started to run low.

I talked to one local Ebay vendor who was selling takeoff parts for that large offroad shop. I got in early in that process, bought two sets, and warned that when he figured out there was actually a market for them on Trailblazers that he was going to jack up the price. Since I've stressed out my first set, it's time to put in my $40/pr spares.

I was hoping someone bought these from this seller and it was the right part. I've been waiting for 2weeks for the seller to give me the part number and he's still has yet to reply.

Anyways after reading this post it made me a little bit more comfortable after see this that I bought them. Fingers crossed they'll be the correct number. So that means the seller only has one left.

Very sorry to try and revive a dead thread, but I just ran into the same exact issue, I ordered the z71 springs and received GM Part # 22811851 instead. Although the eBay description clearly states that it's part # 15234633 / 25978750. Wondering if this ended up working out, or if you had to return the coils. Thanks.

Edit :

The springs worked fine, in case anyone else has the same experience! The GM Parts Manager I spoke with said there's nothing that says they are interchangeable or that the 22811851's superseded the 15234633/25978750 springs, so I was hesitant to try them. Then MarkMC told me to give it a shot and they worked fine.
