Bad vibration in 4x4 under acceleration

Did a search and couldnt find a solution to this problem that others have also had. In 2wd everything is smooth and vibration free. in 4hi there was a bad shake. My first thought as bad as it was that it was a wheel loose. ( i think coming more from the right front ) when accelerating( not hammering on it just normal picking up speed, then goes away when i let up or am just cruising. Changed both cvs today thinking that was the issue ( right one was pretty bad. But to my disappointment the shake is still there, slightly better but still there.New lower ball joint on both side Both wheel barrings , outer tie rods , struts and springs have all been replaced over the last six months so i have ruled them out. any help on this would be greatly appreciated

Hmmm... Since it never happens in 2WD, I would hazard a guess that it's something that's moving only when you're in 4WD. That's really only the output of the T-case, the front prop shaft, and the carrier/ring/pinion in the front diff. Could be the loaded thing on the CV shafts, I guess, but if you've already replaced them and it still does it, that kills that as a thought. Maybe a bad front prop shaft U-joint or tri-pot (or whatever the CV is at the T-case). You might get under there when it's parked and see if there is any real side-to-side play in the front prop shaft?

It's the drive shaft that goes from the transfer case to the front differential. It's right next to the driver's side of the transmission.

As Kyle said, I guess I had assumed that it otherwise was aligned and good to go. If your front prop shaft joints are fine (free 2 minute check), alignment is where I'd personally go.

If its coming from the right side, and happens under load, all I've read makes it sound like the 4WD disconnect... I agree with DirtyBacon. Pop that puppy apart and check it out.

Assuming all the internals(bearings, seals, gears, etc.) were still in good condition, I'm stymied.

Yes I got a alignment about a four weeks a-go after i put hte lower control armes in

Make sure your axle nuts are tq'd down. (can you tell I'm running out of ideas?)

I also have this same problem, had it aligned 6 different times, wheels balanced 10, 2 sets of cv shafts, regreased the disconnect, changed the u-joint on the front prop shaft.

Only thing I haven't done is pull the diff and check its internals, has the normal amount of play in the front prop shaft, so I gave up on it a few months back, since it only happens to me from 0 to 25-30 mph, then goes away, which I'll never be going that fast on trails, and its not daily driven.

I also have the same issue up to about 30 mph. Had this issue ever since I had all new cv's and ball joints put in a few years back by the dealer after I lifted my TB.
I have also had it aligned multiple times, wheels balanced, multiple sets of cv shafts and also re-greased the disconnect last summer and everything looked good.
So obviously would love to hear the solution to this issue, keep us updated!

I have the same issue as well, I get a wobble in my front end while in 4x4 going 25-30mph under acceleration and then goes away. When swapping wheel bearings out on Saturday I did notice while free turning the shaft it didn't exactly rotate centered in the inner tripod. I could see the shaft moving almost up and down slightly, but my suspension was also at full droop.

I'm still on OEM cv's since they haven't tore or anything but also lifted 3", and have had an alignment. I figured it was my cv's being in a new position but haven't had the funds to throw at it to try Cv's.

I'm putting money on its the severe angle of our cv shafts after we lift these things and might just have to deal with it or look into a RCV custom cv shaft. I went through this issue before when I lowered my tuner car, anything over -1.7" of drop caused a vibration when accelerating. I might toss in a new cv to see what happens but am doubtful it will help.

I had the same issue and a good alignment solved it. The key is to get a good alignment. I alwasy request a spec sheet and usually watch them do it.

I think i am going to take it to my trans. shop and see what he says because i dont know what to do with it i do have marks 3'' suspension lift kit and 3" body lift do you guys think sears is a good place to get a alignment
