Yeah it was a blast! I really hope to go again next year. And yes, I did a little damage to both drivers side doors. The driver side door glass still needs replaced.


So for anyone parting out a TB, I need a window!

Steve what was used for The steering box the 4 runner one? Any mods to the pump?

I originally had the flow mod, and pressure mod to my pump done, but with some whining of the pump I eventually put the stock guts back in. So right now the only pump mod is a ext pump (cardone says ext and non-ext are same pressure) with an ext pulley.

Gearbox doesnt matter much, all 86-95 truck and runner boxes have the same mounting pattern, but the newer ones are a little larger externally. Im not sure where the split is, around 91 I think.

If you can swing it, I would run an upgraded pump, remote reservoir with filter, and a cooler.

make sure you plate/brace the frame, the toyota box has enough force to crush the stock tb frame.

Like how the lines are tapped in? The ram itself is mounted to the diff cover on one end, then has an adjustable tube clamp at the other.

I found pictures of where to drill on the trail gear website, I drilled through the o in toyota, then the other is in the top.

I won't be near the tb till monday for pics, check my photobucket just to make sure there isn't any there.

Steve how did you get fourth back getting over the speed sensor issue. Going from stock to 241 c

Not sure what you mean, in 2wd my trans shifts just fine. But my gear ratio works out where the speedo is correct. I just hooked up the speed sensor.

There is actually 3 speed sensors on a stock t-case, I just ran one. I think the passenger side rear stock vss is the one I hooked to the 241. The other 2 sensors go to the transfer case control circuit.

Thats the need for plating, and hydro assist.

I would not wheel a sas tb without both. (I tried too, didnt work well)

Have you seen, i think its PSC that has a road legal mechanical linked hydro setup? Basically just like a transmission shifter cable that goes down to the axle so you still have a little bit of steering without the engine running.

Wow back from the dead!

This thread needs some love. I really need to look over the truck and find everything that's been done in the last year or so. Really not that much tho.

Last year at EJS I dumped it on its driver side, making the door much worse, had to fix the cab to get a new windshield in and replaced the rear quarter window with a road sign.

Currently a new 4l60e, Doubler, 205 case, upgraded drivelines, etc. are going in.

Need to:

Install a new CB cable
Permanently mount my winch solenoid box
Install custom orange UA sticker on the new windshield
Replace front inner axle seals

Down the road may be redoing the axle gears. Keep in mind I'm still running 4.56 and 40's!

Damn, I need to get working on it again!

I ran across a link to the trailvoy thread (loved how you played everyone!) which lead me back to here. Since you resurrected the thread anyway, might I make a request? I'd love to see pics of the trail damage. I find it interesting to see how the TB holds up to various types of impacts. Also I'm curious about your CB antenna -- you managed to find one that matches really nicely to the radio antenna. My TB is the first vehicle I've had without a CB, and sometimes I miss it. There was still a lot of chatter in the area last time I tuned in.

Gotta add my kudos... frickin' awesome build! Not something I would ever be able to do, but its really great to be able to point to this and show people what *can* be done with our platform. Your wife must be very understanding :)

Wow Steve, I didn't realize you were on 4.56s. Although, you're a bit better off than I was with 32s and 3.42s. What's next, 4.88s for you?
