Rear headrest removal

I Got tired of the head rests sticking up when I folded the rear seats, so I figured out how to remove them and it was very easy. (this is necessary for my upcoming post "Removable rear seats...)

This is the back of the rear head rest from the cargo area.

Use a small flat blade screwdriver to pry out the clip that holds in the head rest, it is the top black piece in this picture (there are 2 per head rest).

This is one of the clips.

Head rests removed.

Now the head rests don't stick up when you lay the seats down and gives you a little more room.

removed mine last week, we thought we were going on a beach trip and my wife was going to ride in the back. It was easy to remove. Now I just need to put them back on before I lose the clips.

This was great for our camping trip this last weekend. That little bit of extra space by removing the headrest makes a big difference. Thanks for sharing that mod.

Yeah they keep your passenger's necks from snapping backward if someone hits you from behind lol

I'm going to post a disclaimer for any passenger entering the back seat... "The passenger assumes all risks of riding in the rear seats of a vehiclular maniac's automobile".

After searching for hours I found Beamer's answer which, thanks to the photos, made it simple to remove the rear seat headrests.

THANK YOU!

To make it just one "step" easier you can PUSH the clip out FROM the FRONT side enough to then follow the "pull the clip out" from the rear instructions. When viewed from the back the clip appeared to be a black washer but when viewed from the front the individual prongs of the clip were easy see.

Thanks again for increasing the usable floor space.

Im gonna have to do this. the lift is making it harder for me to reach from standing on my toes now. that would be alot easier for me ha

I remove mine by folding down the seat about 1/2 way so I don't have to climb in the TB to do it.
I also bought some clips the other day so I can make the seat bottoms easy to remove as well. I just need to do that mod now.
